A message usually seen during combat when a player, mob or NPC has an ability, power, or spell buff on them that can absorb damage from a melee, power or spell attack.
Examples of absorb situations:
- A
[Fire Protection Potion] will allow you to absorb up to 975 to 1625 fire damage effects for 1 hour. - Some warlock mobs can absorb shadow damage.
[Fire Ward], 
[Frost Ward], and [Shadow Ward] absorb damage from their respective school.- [Mana Shield] absorbs physical damage.
- [Power Word: Shield] absorbs any damage.
- The Sacrifice ability which can be obtained for the Voidwalker provides a damage absorbing effect.
However, damage absorption doesn't protect you from secondary effects the spell cast on you might do.
For example, if you absorb a Shaman's 
[Frost Shock], you are still affected by the snare.
