Adept is a class found in the Warcraft RPG, and detailed in the DMG (Dungeon Master's Guide) that also exists in the world of Warcraft.WRPG 54MG 178
Adepts are generally spell casters in training to become members of other more experienced spell caster classes. For example shaman and witch doctors teach their skills to new adepts.HPG cover However this is not always the case, sometimes an adept is a spell caster who specializes in a single school of magic. An arcane adept, is a dedicated mage with a natural predilection for one of the schools of specialization (usually transmutation or evocation). He becomes more entrenched in whichever school he prefers.WoWRPG 60

What is an adept?
Some tribal societies or less sophisticated regions don't have the resources to train wizards and clerics. Reflecting a lesser knowledge of magic yet an intriguing combination of arcane and divine skills, the adept serves these cultures as both wise woman (or holy man) and mystical defender. Adept can be found in isolated human, elf, dwarf, gnome, and halfling communities but are most prevalent among more bestial humanoid and giant species such as orcs, goblins, gnolls, bugbears, and ogres(DMG, pg 107).
This NPC class possesses a combination of arcane and divine skills.[1] Unlike Clerics, who possess decent physical combat ability, Adepts focus more on their spellcasting.[2]
