Ambassador Laurent is one of the "illustrious figures" Commander Schnottz invited to Uldum. He and other similarly invited guests stay at Schnottz's Hostel^{[21.9, 64.5]}

. Laurent's eventual demise within the Hostel by enemies unknown is great cause for concern amongst the other guests; he likely died trying to investigate Schnottz's reasons for unearthing the artifacts in Uldum, and why the goblin had so many troops with him.
