Archmage Cedric could possibly be one of the Violet Eye's high-ranking officials. In Deadwind Pass, outside of Karazhan, Archmage Alturus belittles Apprentice Darius. Archmage Leryda comes to Darius' aid saying, "Do not be so harsh on the child, Alturus. Remember that Cedric himself assigned him to you." This conversation shows that Cedric is in command of a group of archmages, a ranking position by itself.
