Tips
Edit
The chance to hit with this ability is improved by adding hit rating.
This spell is the primary pulling tool of prot paladins; it is ranged, does holy damage, and strikes up to three targets.
Avenger's Shield hits each target with a 7% spell damage coefficiant and another 7% attack power coefficient.
This ability is a Smart Spell.
In PvP, this ability is best used as an interrupt to spellcasters, due to its interrupt ability and 3 second silence. Combined with Grand Crusader and Rebuke, the Protection Paladin can keep a spellcaster bereft of spells for significant bursts of time.
With Glyph of Dazing Shield, this ability can also be used to allow the Paladin to catch a fleeing enemy.
Trivia
Edit
The Paladin Talent Avenger's Shield is a reference to Captain America (who is a member of the superhero group known as The Avengers), and his ability to ricochet his shield off of multiple targets and return to him.
Patch Notes
Edit
As of Patch 2.4 this spell will not 'jump' to targets that are under the effects of crowd control (such as sap or polymorph).
There are some exceptions to this, such as fear, Avenger's Shield will still bounce to targets affected by fear.
