Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore The Origin of the Blasted Lands

So a little kown fact is that Blizzard weren't the first people to think of the Blasted Lands. In Stephen King and Peter Straub's 1984 collaboration, The Talisman, the lead protagonist Jack Sawyer has to travel through a place called The Blasted Lands. This is a wasteland with red, powdery soil and surrounded by high mountains on all sides. The wildlife is hideous, deformed, and pretty much universally evil while the plantlife consists of short, twisted trees. It wasn't always a demonic, red barren waste, but it was devastated in the previous generation by the effects of nuclear testing in our world seeping into The Territories...or possibly done by travellers from our own world into theirs.

So...think there's any connection?
