Befouled Water Elementals can be found at Mystral Lake^{[48, 70]}

in Ashenvale. Befouled water elementals possess ugly temperaments that reflect their powers. These creatures corrupt water with a touch and take great pleasure in ruining wells and freshwater streams, especially when the result sickens animals and other creatures. A befouled water elemental can corrupt a 10-foot cubic area of water with a touch. The water becomes brackish and tainted. Anyone drinking corrupted water may become sickened.^{MG 63}
Mastok Wrilehiss wants them killed. Prior to the Cataclysm, Sentinel Velene Starstrike wanted their bracers collected for divination. This section concerns content exclusive to Cataclysm.

During the Cataclysm the water elementals at the Lake fell under control of the Horde, which allowed their soldiers to claim Silverwind Refuge from the Alliance. They lost control of the elementals shortly thereafter, however.
