Twilight Lord Xarosan is the first boss in the Halls of Reflection in Icecrown Citadel. One of the Highborne of ancient Kalimdor, Xarosan has been growing in knowledge and power for over ten thousand years, mastering arcane magicks, summoning the elements, and the demonic powers of darkness. Having come to believe that mastering death is the truest path to everlasting life under the dominion of the Old Gods, in recent years Xarosan has begun studying necromancy extensively. In Dragonblight he attempted to continue the former Scourge's efforts there to raise slain dragons as undead wyrms. Since his defeat, he has remained close to his master, Velius, waiting for an opportunity to exact his revenge. He has followed Velius into the Halls of Reflection, where the true goals of the Twilight's Hammer are about to be revealed.

Abilites

Phase One Abilities - Xarosan uses these abilities in his night elf form.

Frostfire Blast — Deals a burst of frostfire damage to the target. Cast on random targets.

Summon Living Storms — Summons 2 Living Firestorms and 2 Living Blizzards. Cast every 20 seconds.

Elemental Shield of Frost — When cast grants Xarosan two stacks of Elemental Shield of Frost. Each stack protects Xarosan from 100% of all damage. Attackers take frost damage and have their movement and attack speed reduced. Slaying a Living Firestorm within 10 yards of Xarosan will remove a stack, while slaying a Living Blizzard will add a stack.

Frozen Wasteland — The area around Xaronsan is charged with chilling cold, reducing movement speed and dealing periodic frost damage. Affects an area 20 yards around Xarosan. Active when he has Elemental Shield of Frost.

Elemental Shield of Flame — When cast grants Xarosan two stacks of Elemental Shield of Flame. Each stack protects Xarosan from 100% of all damage. Attackers take fire damage and have a chance to be set ablaze, taking additional periodic fire damage for several seconds. Slaying a Living Blizzard within 10 yards of Xarosan will remove a stack, while slaying a Living Firestorm will add a stack.

Magma Field — The area around Xaronsan is charged with elemental flame, melting the ground underfoot and dealing periodic fire damage to anyone standing on it. Affects an area 20 yards around Xarosan. Active when he has Elemental Shield of Flame.

Elemental Exhaustion — Xarosan is weakened by the dispersal of his Elemental Shield and cannot move or attack. Lasts for 5 seconds.

Phase Two Abilities - Xarosan transforms into his Demon Form using Metamorphosis.

Fel Claw — Deals damage to Xarosan's primary target and AoE damage to all nearby targets.

Transmute to Shadow — Transforms any Living Firestorms and Living Blizzards into Living Blasphemies. Converted elementals will have the same health their previous incarnations did.

Summon Darkness — Summons two Living Blasphemy elementals. Used every 20 seconds.

Shadow Raid — Releases a wave of shadow damage that strikes all enemies, dealing lethal shadow damage. 5 seconds casting time. Can be reduced by standing in fields of Blasphemous Residue.

Phase Three Abilities - Xarosan seperates himself from his demonic side, leaving the demon behind to use the following abilities.

Fel Claw — Deals damage to Xarosan's primary target and AoE damage to all nearby targets.

Wild Manifestation — Periodically summons a random elementals of either Fire or Frost. Used every 5 seconds.

Transmute to Shadow — Transforms any Living Firestorms and Living Blizzards into Living Blasphemies. Converted elementals will have the same health their previous incarnations did.

Disastrous Forces — Shadow, fire, and frost magicks have been unleashed and are going wild. All targets take periodic damage every second, first shadow, then fire, then frost. Each burst of damage will stack a debuff that increases damage taken from that elemental type.

Living Firestorm abilities

Burn Out - When slain, Living Firestorms deal fire damage to all nearby targets. This ability removes a stack from Xarosan's Elemental Shield of Frost.

Living Blizzard abilities

Flash Freeze - When slain, Living Blizzards deal frost damage to all nearby targets. This ability removes a stack from Xarosan's Elemental Shield of Flame.

Living Blasphemy abilities

Blasphemous Residue - When slain, Living Blasphemies leave behind a pool of shadowy slime. Standing in the pool deals periodic shadow damage, but negates all shadow damage from all other sources.

Changes in Heroic Mode

Xarosan receives the following changes in Phase One:

Transmute Elements — Transforms a random elemental into its opposite form. Converts Living Firestorms into Living Blizzards, and vice versa.
Elemental shields now start with 4 stacks instead of two.
Summon Living Storms now calls three elementals of one type and one elemental of the opposing type.

Strategy

In phase one, Xarosan will protect himself with elemental shields while summoning hordes of deadly elementals. The only way to pierce Xarosan's shield is to destroy elementals of the opposite type while closeby his shield - i.e. destroy fire elementals if he is using a frost shield. When the shield is dispelled, Xarosan will be stunned and vulnerable for a few seconds. When he recovers, he will immediately enter phase two.

In phase two, Xarosan transforms into his Demon Form. Xarosan will transmute any living elementals into Living Blasphemies, as well as summoning more Living Blasphemies throughout phase two. After a short time in phase two, Xarosan will cast Shadow Raid and revert to his normal form. Shadow Raid will deal lethal damage unless players protect themselves by standing in the pools of Blasphemous Residue left behind by slain Living Blasphemies. When Xarosan reverts to his normal form after casting Shadow Raid, phase one will begin again.

When Xarosan's health has been reduced to 10%, phase three begins. Xarosan will separate himself from his Demon Form and teleport away, leaving the demon behind to continue the attack. Xarosan's demonic self will continue to attack the raid until he is destroyed. Players must weather the chaotic energies unleashed during this phase and defeat the demon before they are overwhelmed.

Heroic Changes

Xarosan has more powerful abilities in phase one. Phase three begins when Xarosan is reduced to 15% health rather than 10%.
