The most famous and the first of the Blood Mages was the Blood Elf hero Kael'Thas. He lead the Blood Elves in Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne's Human Expansion Campaign. Leading them from the alliance.

Kael'thas represented a Blood Mage, with the same powers as a regular Blood Mage, so he was used as model.
