Borea River runs from the largely drained Lake Wintergrasp, over a high waterfall, and down to the sea, forming the boundary between the Dragonblight and Borean Tundra. At its end, the river empties into the North Sea through a wide delta that forms a myriad of tiny islands.

The name of this river is found in no source of lore. However, the name "Borea River" is the most logical name for a number of reasons which may leave little doubt of its naming. Firstly, the river on the bounds of the Borean Tundra, and therefore, could be named as such as a simple placeholder. However, the most convincing piece of evidence for the name of the river is the name of the region beyond the river on the Borean Tundra side. It is called the Transborea.Naturaly, such a name would seem out of place in a region quite within the Borean Tundra, but if the name of the river was to be the Borea River, then the name of the subzone would make sense and would mean that land just beyond the Borea River. (When viewed from the Dragonblight side.)
