Califax, a Keeper of the Grove and one of the Watchers, was chosen to protect Illidan's prison down within the Barrow Deeps below Mount Hyjal. He commanded a small army of intelligent Wildkin.
The Priestess of the Moon herself — Tyrande Whisperwind — led a cadre of Sentinels against him. Califax warned her that releasing Illidan would doom them all, but Tyrande heedlessly defeated the Watchers, and ignored the warnings of Califax. Califax battled Tyrande before the very prison of Illidan, and eventually he was slain.[2]
