• Jongleur is French for a minstrel or bard, particularly wanderers of the Medieval period. The word ultimately comes from the Latin ioculare (or joculare), meaning "to jest" (i.e., a jocular fellow). The word came into English as juggler, since these comedians would perform such acts as juggling and acrobatics besides their music.
• In the Dune universe, Jongleur is the name of a House of the Landsraad renowned for its musicians, entertainers and playwrights.
