Caster stats
From WoWWiki
Caster stats is a term for tameable beasts which have higher than normal intellect and spirit when tamed, but lower than normal health, attack power, and armor. At earlier levels, the difference between a caster pet and a non-caster pet is not as pronounced at is it as high levels (for example, the difference between 20 stamina and 25 stamina is fairly small). However, the difference between 200 stamina and 250 stamina is much larger. As a result, the pet's attacks will become progressively less effective and its overall survivability progressively lower in relation to level; therefore, beasts with caster stats are generally avoided for taming.
As a rule of thumb, if a beast has a mana bar prior to taming, it will probably have caster stats. (Nether rays are especially problematic, as almost every member of the species has a mana drain attack which they must use upon players to gain mana, so that they normally look like they have no mana.) Some beast families have this occur in many of its members; for example, every nether ray except the Fen Ray and Coilfang Ray has caster stats.
