Deserts are lands of little water, where few plants can grow, and it rains infrequently. These regions are (at least ingame) home to many species of insect such as scorpids and Silithids, as well as carrion birds, hyenas and boars. Many have dunes, whilst some are made up of hard, packed earth. Many deserts are very hot (like Tanaris), whilst others are very cold (like Netherstorm). Others still can support no life because the are continually covered in layer upon layer of ash of lava (such as the Searing Gorge).
