**Basically any class, as it is mostly a [[buff]] profession. Any items you make are to give you an edge in combat or for various utility purposes.

***At high levels, [[Mage]]s and [[Priest]]s can use some powerful items to boost their [[damage]] or [[resistance]]. Also, many pieces of headgear made by Engineering are [[Cloth Armor]], so they benefit these cloth wearing classes.

***Particularly useful for a [[Paladin]] as the bombs and dynamite give you a limited range attack useful for [[pulling]].

***Valuable for [[Hunter]]s, who will be able to make their own firearms and ammunition.

[[Gnome]]s have a innate racial +15 bonus to the Engineering Skill, giving them a bit of a head start and making them a good choice, although there are no recipies which require 315 skill.

Some engineering minions, notably the Gnomish Battle Chicken and the various Mechanical Dragonlings, have their effective level based off of engineering skill, using the formula, (engineering level)/5. Thus, a 300 engineer (attainable at great cost at level 35), can summon a level 60 dragonling. A maxed [[Gnome]] Gnomish Engineer can summon a level 63 Gnomish Battle Chicken.

Overview

The Engineering profession is used to assemble metal and stones into parts needed to make explosives, guns, scopes, bullets, mechanical dragons, aquatic helmets, and more.

Unlike other crafting professions, most of the items created by engineers can only be used by engineers. This makes it an important primary profession. Adequate (and especially good) other equipment is readily found as loot, and some good stuff may be found for sale, but none of these things are exclusive to the profession which produced it. Most Engineering items are exclusive to engineers.
