History

"I have watched the snows of Northrend for thousands of years, and when I close my eyes it all rushes past me as if it were nothing more than a second."

As with most azure dragonkin, Wrathegosa was hatched in a clutch within the boundries of Coldarra. She has no real record of the two dragons that gave life to her, something that she feels a tad sore about with the knowledge of the close relationship between parents and children with mortals. Life was particularly simple up until the events that spawned the War of the Ancients and the massacre of her kin that followed at the hands of Deathwing. During the fighting, Wrathegosa was caught between a far stronger Black and no way to escape.

Gore followed as the Blue's eyes were gouged right out of their sockets. Death would have surely followed were it not for the timely intervention of an elder sapphire wyrm. She remained blind for a while, until a link could be established that used her magic to create fake eyesight for herself. The injury caused more emotional pain to Wrathegosa than it did physical, brewing an extreme lust for vengeance for what happened to her flight. With death planted firmly in her mind, she scoured the world looking for Black dragons to slaughter. Among those she slaughtered was a male dragon, an unborn clutch, and left his mate-- a dragon by the name of Kuraira, for dead after gouging out her eyes.

Sometime after this, the exact number of years is uncertain, Wrathegosa came across a stray blue whelp in Northrend who had become prey to some of the larger predators of the frozen wastes. She saved the young whelp, named Corigosa, and raised her personally. While she raised Cori, Wrathegosa's heart of hate melted. She cast her vendetta to the side, but not her loathing for those who had caused her harm, and swore to focus efforts on the more positive. More specifically, research to sate the natural curiosity for infinite knowledge.

This goal brought her into mortal lands, disguised proper to not attract attention, where she wanted to do something most dragons avoid -- getting involved in mortal affairs. Taking the form of a kaldorei, perhaps not the smartest move she had ever made, her searches brought her far and wide across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Eventually she landed in a small town nestled in the forests of Elwynn, Goldshire, and within the quaint Lion's Pride Inn. How little did Wrathegosa realize that stepping into that building would completely change the person she was to become.

It did not take long for Wrathegosa to realize that Goldshire was a strange town, and it's people even stranger. She settled to remain there for a couple of months to examine the mortals there... only to find herself soon wrapped up within their business. Especially that of a young, diminutive woman by the name of Lerissa Stormwood and a few of the human's companions. It would be impossible to list everything that had happened, but to summarize, a lot of adventures caused Wrathegosa to forsake the idea of returning home to Northrend, and instead decided to remain with what she considered a family.

... but not everything can go as planned. The advent of the Nexus War spelled doom for wayward Wrathegosa, or as she was mostly referred to now, Wrath. Her closest companions being magic users, she did not see the logic in her former sire's judgment, and turned her claws and blades upon her former kin. All did not turn out well, the rogue Blue was eventually captured and driven insane with the use of runes and compulsive magic. Broken, Wrathegosa was let loose upon her friends and sowed a great deal of destruction and pain among them before a final showdown at the Nexus sealed her fate. Lerissa's death knight husband, Haden Daybreaker, put their sapphire friend's soul to rest.

And that was the end... or was it?

It was half a year later that a cloaked figure arrived at the doorstep of a group who's time of mourning had long since passed, and revealed themselves to be the dead blue. A tale was weaved of rebirth at the hands of the Dragonqueen, who bestowed upon Wrathegosa a second chance. Since that moment, even more events have transpired by way of adventures and milestones, through all of it, Wrath's devotion to the Red Dragonflight has not wavered, nor has her loathing for her once kin.

Among the important events that have happened to Wrathegosa were the murder of Corigosa, her marriage to the demon hunter Zio Flamestrider, the birth of her halfling son Kai'ren, and the saving of Evandragos -- an event reminiscent of Wrath's retrieval of Cori, so many thousands of years ago. Adventures have taken place, reunions made, friendships forged, and enemies have been sought out. All of them have shaped the blue dragon into what she is today, including some of the more recent events.

At one point, Wrathegosa was captured by a trained dragon hunter and left within the deserted spires of Blackrock, at the mercy of a nefarious character by the name of Senal. Forced, on threat of the death of Lerissa's young daughter, Ella, to become the broodmother for his experimental flight, the Shimmering. She was freed weeks of torment later, and the experience haunts her like a waking nightmare. Despite the promise she made to herself to never return to the Mountain, she had to break the oath, as six keys and dire circumstances would not allow her reprieve.

A door lay hidden in the depths of Blackrock Mountain, undisturbed for ages, was recently opened after carnage ensued against an army of black and twilight dragons. At the head of said army was Kuraira, who had managed to survive Wrathegosa's torture and was starving for revenge. After her death, and the death of the Black's compatriots, the door was opened and an artifact of indescribable power was revealed. Wrathegosa, knowing that it must be destroyed, but battling with her own feelings, betrayed orders and took the artifact for herself. She openly attacked her friends, but the power was destroyed and she was defeated.

Taken to Wyrmrest for healing, she was later reported to have been found missing. Two weeks of searching led Lerissa and Haden to a small section of Coldarra where Wrath had been hiding and feasting upon mounds of stray energy to combat the power addiction she had received from touching such enormous power that was contained in the artifact. The two humans convinced the blue dragon to come home, but she remains hesitant and fearful of what the rest of her friends will think of her after her betrayal and how she'll be able to cope with her addiction without a vast supply of readily available energy.

Appearance

Wrathegosa, in her mortal disguise, stands at seven feet, five inches tall. She is lanky and lithe, but time spent disguised as a rogue and formal training has given her some ropey muscles. When first met in the past, she used to have a very formal air about her that melted with first greetings. Now, however, she's usually seen sulking in the shadows and trying to avoid contact with other people.

The shift in personality hasn't done much to change how she looks. Cyan hair frames a face that has some sharp angles to it, but has soft lines around the cheeks. Her eyes are mana motes and cast an odd, shifting blue light across her already light azure skin. If that weren't enough, an inked blue line crosses from the top of her forehead down to the base of her jaw over each eye. She can either be seen in a variety of black or beryl dresses or leather armor. As of late, with a lack of mana potions or other energy substitutes, Wrath's skin goes pale white and seems to have a coarse look to it, and her face becomes creased with age.

Kalecgos Dragon Form

Wrath's dragon form, more or less.

In her dragon form, Wrathegosa is extremely large. Her size is obviously less than the Aspects but is larger than the average full-grown dragon. Her scales are a dark sapphire color and the membrane of her wings is a lighter shade of blue than that. Her talons and the spiked ball at the end of her tail take on a crystalline appearance, along with the spikes that run along her head and down her neck and back. The mana motes for eyes persist in this form as well.

The arcane addiction does not seem to have any noticeable effects on Wrathegosa's dragon form, except that the sheen of her scales becomes completely dull, even under the light.

Abilities

"I believe this is one of those moments when diplomacy is not going to work."

Due to her heritage as a blue dragon, Wrathegosa has a heavy affinity for magic, specifically of the arcane and frost kind. Her spells are potent and she often uses some stranger spells in her arsenal, among which are shockwaves of arcane, tombs of ice, and she has a fancy for summoning arcane elementals into battles. She uses these abilities in both her dragon and mortal forms, her night elf disguise can use controlled bolts of power while her dragon form can unleash devastating, magic-laced breaths.

During her time heavily disguised among the mortals, she took up the practice of a rogue to avoid having attention drawn to her vast arcane reserves. She was never very good at sneaking about, she learned a thing or two about how to swing swords and daggers to make someone die. Recent training with her friends has made her a devastating weapon swinging, spell slinging monster in combat if she gets worked up enough. In her dragon form, her claws and teeth are sharp and provide enough physical backup for her when she fights.

Drawn head-shot.

In mortal form, her equipment is leather armor of protection and usually two weapons. Recently she received two obsidian axes with a set of armor made from a Scourge geist, but normally she is found with Romathis and Soran'xelar, two draconic relics. The Lifesong and the Azure Judge, respectively, were given to Wrathegosa by the Wyrmrest Accord. Romathis is a lifeblade from the vaults of the Red Dragonflight, its flames sear and heal and is mainly a combative weapon. Soran'xelar is different, it has a sharp edge but a rounded tip, making it less desirable for combat. However, as a Blue relic it serves as a catalyst to power up Wrath's spells in combat.

Despite all these abilities, Wrathegosa is known to be easily crippled by mana burn. Said spell has been known to leave her in a comatose state for at least week unless a supplement is given to raise her mana levels back up.

Quotes

  • "I find myself feeling more like a mortal who can turn into a dragon than a dragon who can become a mortal."
  • "For what they have done to me, I hate them, and my feelings will not change. It does not matter that my ex-Lord is dead, or that his followers have been crushed and undermined. I am not one to forgive and forget easily." - Wrathegosa's comments on her own flight.
  • "If I were to lose them, I would lose my world. Without them, I have no reason to continue on. They forgive and they care, and that's all I could ask for." - On family and friends.

Trivia

  • Wrath was my second main roleplaying toon, after Jenna, but is currently my main character with the decline of Jen's character, which is why she's at the top of the page.
  • There were two Wrath's, one that only made it to 48 before being deleted (the Nexus War section of Wrath's history), and the one I currently play.
  • She has a motorcycle :3
  • Despite being my favorite character and being one of the oldest, she has a striking lack of a thorough history outside of in-game character development.
  • Two words: British dragon. That is all.

History

"Never pretended to understand where I got to where I am, mate. All I know is that it ends up being really messed up."

A Crimson Life

Jenna Whitemane was born in Southshore as the second child of Sally Whitemane and a man who went by the name of Veron Lightsworn. An exact record of dates and years hasn't been archived, either destroyed or forgotten, but at some point after the Scarlet Crusade was formed, the small family of four moved to the Scarlet Monastery at its foothold in Tirisfal Glades. A tough childhood was spent in defiance of her mother, who wanted Jenna to become an inquisitor in her footsteps. However, Jen had her sights fixed on something better than that; she was going to become a crusader, a paladin, like her father and her brother David.

The girl became proficient in a variety of ways to kill undead, and everyone else, from the day she was strong enough to lift a sword and a hammer. A few years of training went by, pouring over books and whacking dummies until they were nothing but shreds of cloth and splinters of wood. By this time she was eight years old and David was eleven, and something akin to a dark shadow had passed over the Monastery. The leaders were calling a meeting, leaving the younglings to their own devices, and reckless David Whitemane had a grand idea to spice up the evening.

Gathering together the other children, they plotted to sneak into Brill and cause havoc among the undead there. Most of the girls and some of the boys chickened out at the last minute, not wanting to get in trouble if they were caught in the act. Of the group of at least fifteen kids, only two were girls; Jenna and an older girl by the name of Lerissa, who's father was visiting the Monastery from other regions. With some packed supplies, they headed out on the road, coming upon the undead infested town a few hours later. Everything was going well as they surveyed the town, undetected.

But all good plans must fail, especially when they're conducted by a group of adolescents who are younger than the average teenager. The group of Scarlet children were captured and held in the basement of the Brill inn. During the first few nights of captivity, Jenna and Lerissa got to know each other pretty well and became good friends, David sometimes poking his head in when he wasn't trying to calm the other, very frightened, children down. At one point, one of the undead monsters came downstairs with food for the kids, most of them were skeptical of tasting anything held by the undead. One brave boy picked up a piece of pumpkin and chowed down upon it to cure his famished stomach.

Horrified, the others watched as he himself rotted away into undeath. The undead who had brought them the food laughed and dragged the infected boy out of the makeshift prison. A night later the adults from the Monastery laid waste to the inhabitants of Brill and rescued the children, who attempted to settle back down into average life after what they had just witnessed. Despite the predicament they were in, the adults never questioned what had happened. Lerissa and her father left a day after the incident, and the day after they left, the other children became aware of what was taking the attention of their parents and elders. They had found out what was causing the darkness that had invaded the Monastery.

Three days after their rescue from Brill, Veron Lightsworn was executed by being beheaded, his children forced to watch the ordeal.

Jenna Whitemane was never exactly the same after that day. Her and her brother were not allowed much time to mourn, another six years of empty training would be the only thing to take their mind off of things until something more pressing happened.

Lost and Found

On the advent of Jenna's fourteenth birthday, the Monastery came under siege by the undead. Two days of fighting later, Jen and her brother were sent out to help aid in the conflict. The fighting force on the front lines was overrun, and while the two Whitemane children ran to get reinforcements, Jenna was hit by a blow from an abomination, sending her flying, and when she eventually hit the ground, she had blacked out. David, unable to get through the line of undead between him and his sister, was forced to leave her behind. Fortunately for Jenna, she had been knocked into bushes and so the undead passed by her unconscious form as they trudged deeper through Tirisfal to get to the Monastery.

Before David could return for her, she was found by a wandering group of human adventurers hoping to find refuge at the Monastery. Unable to turn a blind eye to the injured girl, they turned their course around and took her to the nearest Argent Dawn camp for treatment. While the paladins there resented to help a member of the Crusade, they knew that under the eyes of the Light couldn't let her die. After some careful deliberation, they healed the Whitemane girl as she lashed in a fevered state, and sent her on a caravan heading south as she rested from her injuries.

It was sometime later that she would wake up in a small room in a building she had never seen before. Jenna found herself inside Northshire Abbey in a region of the world they called Elwynn Forest, among those she might consider tainted, a thousand miles from home. She stalked out of the building, despite the protests of guards there, who were hoping for help, and to the nearest actual civilization she could find... a small town called Goldshire.

Adventures to Mysteries

She settled down in Goldshire with the intent of getting out of there and heading back home as soon as the ability to do so revealed itself. In the coming days she met a man by the name of Mackk, offering up a deal to head to the high seas to find treasure, and she agreed with the hopes it would bring in some money and possibly wind her up farther north. While the sailing adventure did nothing to help either situation, she gained herself a lifeline to the strange world she had been dropped into by way of Mackk, who served as a close friend. They went through many exciting travels and fights, earning themselves ranks as outlaws in Elwynn for the longest time.

A year passed and Jen had mostly forgotten about heading home, enjoying herself and the mischief she was causing. Mackk had left for an unknown reason over the months of summer, so Jenna trekked out and took up working to build up some cash and more experience in the field. One of her jobs took her through the haunted land of Deadwind Pass, where the paladin uncovered a rotting orc corpse cast off to the side of the beaten road. The green-skinned woman had been picked apart by the vultures, but one disembodied hand had been untouched; its cold, dead fingers gripping a red and black runed blade.

She had the compulsive urge to take the sword, and replaced her hammer with it as she rushed on through the rest of the pass to complete her duty. When she returned to Goldshire, she met up with the company of another paladin she had befriended before, who agreed to help research about the mysterious sword. After finding a single page with the name of the blade, Warmonger, and its previous owner, Lady Beovarg, the two left Goldshire with the intent of searching across the world to find out more. I mean, it's not like they had anything better to do, anyway.

Answers to a Question History Forgot

The search led them across the Eastern Kingdoms, to old kingdoms that lay in ruins, following the tracks of a group that died centuries ago, and to an isle where the dead walked in haunted agony. They were visited by ghosts of the past, murdered keepers who tried to keep time buried, and eventually pieced together a story that shook Jenna to the core. At the time, it was not the whole picture, but only a few grains of details remained unrevealed.

In the past lived an aged paladin by the name of Jennifer Lightsworn, who held a holy blade forged by the high elves called Anahselama, or Justice of the Light. Her husband, Dante of the Light, was also a paladin, and the two were the very beacons of valor and honor to be upheld and esteemed. However, Jennifer found herself prey to darkness and was transformed into something evil and sinister, known only as Lady Beovarg. Her blade transformed as well, becoming Warmonger, a bloodblade of destruction. Dante and a group of paladins chased after his fallen wife, intent on putting her soul to rest.

Their battles raged across the land, all of the paladins saved Dante himself were slain at one point or another. The final showdown took place upon what is now known as Purgation Island, where Dante struck the final blow against Lady Beovarg. There he buried her with Warmonger and left. Yet while her corpse decayed, Warmonger's evil still burned bright, causing the other spirits dead upon the isle to rise up.

The tale was not the most shocking thing, Jenna found. No, it was the fact that Jennifer Lightsworn, or Lady Beovarg, was her grandmother.

While the puzzle the two paladins had searched for was complete, Jenna didn't feel like she had all the answers. There was no time to keep searching though, Mackk was back and the life of action and adventure was settling in again. The mysterious past Jenna had found was forgotten under the mounds of new brawls and exciting events, among which was rediscovering a childhood friend, the very same Lerissa Stormwood from the incident of Brill six years ago. Jenna and Mackk teamed up with Lerissa and her sisters, along with a few other people, and devoted their time to get into as much action-packed trouble as physically possible.

The Death I Never Knew

While Warmonger's history was long, brutal, and marked the sword as pretty much corrupted, Jenna ignored those warnings in favor of the strength the blade possessed. But the cons heavily outweighed the pros for the soul of the paladin, who was already taking advantage of the Light. She was a marked girl, and as the power of the Warmonger slowly overcame her, the Light readily left her. Her emotions whittled away, a change her friends saw immediately when the spunky teenager lost her spunk, and it was not long before she journeyed out on her own, to where nobody knew she was going.

In truth she had been led away, by a power drawn to the corruption of Warmonger. On the snows of a wasteland barely settled and barely touched, a runeblade spoken of in whispers was thrust through Jenna Whitemane. There in Northrend she died to Frostmourne, having willingly dragged herself to her fate. At the age of fifteen Jenna was raised a death knight of the Scourge, while young, she sowed as much death and destruction as any one of the other knights.

When the knights of Acherus were raised and sent off to the Plaguelands, Jenna went along with. She she no tears when she slaughtered endless waves of Scarlet soldiers, instead gaining quite a hatred for them that's persisted. At the Battle of Light's Hope, Jenna's mind was freed along with the other death knights, but she didn't join the Ebon Blade. She had convinced herself there was nothing to go back for, no vengeance to gain, and she could gain plenty of slaughter to sate her bloodthirst by continuing to serve the Lich King, which is exactly what she did. More months passed, until she was found by her old friends in Northrend... from Goldshire, so long ago.

Somehow they made her see what she was missing, what she had been before compared to what she was now, and she deserted the Scourge. Her emotions slowly began to heal, all though not all at once, and certainly not quick. She turned her hate upon the creatures of Northrend as the Alliance and the Horde pushed further into the frozen continent for control and dominance. Eventually, with the conflict dying down and footholds gained, Jen and the others found themselves haunting Goldshire again, trying to turn back to the adventures they had once so much fun participating in.

Sometime during the Feast of Winter's Veil, Lerissa was married (a wedding that Jen was unfortunately unable to attend, much to the disappointment of Lerissa, who was to doll the angry death knight up for the occasion), more adventures took place... two of which held a substantial impact upon Jenna Whitemane.

A Taste of the Void and a Scarecrow's Mark

Jenna was faced with a figure that had only appeared once before, a sickening disfigurement of herself that she had once assumed was simply her mind playing tricks on her. The woman, or more like a rotting creature that looked a woman, preyed on Jen's hidden ambitions for strength and power to worm her control in the girl. She was called Siona, and appeared only within the reaches of the mind. Siona twisted and manipulated Jenna Whitemane to use her as a tool of destruction. She was eventually thwarted and forced to flee, leaving Jen quite dazed after the events transpired.

The group was later approached by a young girl with stark silver hair, who called herself Nisoa No'alan. A shifty character, but one who would remain an asset in a future fight with Siona.

Around this time, a character involved with Jen's friends, but not much with Jen personally, reappeared after having supposedly died. The paladin, Belaras, rescued Jenna and Lerissa from an unfortunate accident that tossed them both on the edge of the death. From the moment they met, there was something between Bel and Jen. She recognized it as a feeling her aching heart had tried to toss away after Mackk had deserted her and another close friend, Meerdin, had disappeared. Jenna was willing to give love another chance, even if her hollow, undead heart wasn't willing to comply.

However, with Belaras back, his enemy sprang up again as well, Scarrow, a spectre that loved to control and destroy. As a new army under Scarrow's possession arose, people took up arms to combat them back and try to take down the source. The battles raged over a month or two, and Scarrow was supposedly defeated. During the calm after the storm, Belaras proposed to Jenna, who accepted readily. Everything was evening out for the death knight girl, who was starting to think that she might have a chance at a good life after all.

Until Scarrow came back.

It wasn't enough to return, but the entity possessed Belaras and suddenly the entire world turned upside down. Challenging Scarrow at the top of Dreadmist Peak in the Barrens, with a torn heart, Jen refused the devil's offer to join him in ruling the world. It was a week of fighting, gathering keys, and retrieving armor that could stand up to Scarrow and his power. Multiple skirmishes were waged atop that peak and nothing seemed to dent Scarrow until everything was gained.

Jenna was also tossed off a mountain. Twice.

When the three fighters, Jenna, Haden, and another man named Minthas, were suited up in armor of legend and prepared to fight, she had to face the one thing she had been dreading to acknowledge this whole time. A ring on her finger sealed the fact that she did not want to do it, but she knew. To destroy Scarrow she had to kill Belaras. A chaotic fight ensued between the heroes and Scarrow, but Warmonger dealt the final blow. The monster was dead, and so was Jenna's fiancee. With a tear to the wind, the corpse was taken to Andorhal to be buried.

A Second Dance With the Abyss and More Heartache

To add injury to insult, soon after Belaras's death, Siona returned for a second blow. Taking advantage of Jen's grief, the void goddess possessed the death knight and used her body as a corporeal form. Jenna's friends managed to thwart Siona again, but she would not let Jen go, and fled to the abyss beyond the Edge (where the abyssal plane meets Azeroth at the edges of the world, only visible to those who have touched the void before). Lerissa led the others on a boat trip to Siona's domain, where they faced off against the void goddess. When Siona was defeated, Nisoa appeared to finish the duty. A spinning twist of irony (as Siona had banished Nisoa, 8,888 years ago), Nisoa banished Siona.

Jenna was freed, but Siona was not completely gone. A jailer was needed to keep the abyss from flooding Azeroth, and Siona (all though still trying to do just that) served as a road block from the inevitable. An accident before had left Jen with only half a soul, so Siona's soul (or lack thereof) was attached to Jenna's. The constant whispering of the void goddess drives the death knight insane, but it has its pros, and there's no immediate threat of drowning in darkness.

Before this, Meerdin had returned, although under a new name, Zaer. The two of them got back together, and after Jen came back from abyss, they were somewhat happy for the longest time. Of course, Jenna has a way of driving off or eventually fighting those she loves, and such the same happened to Zaer, who was driven insane and took a headquarters on Alcaz Island. Using her ship, the Ebon Hawk, Jenna took everyone to the island where they did constant showdowns with Zaer. After one of the showdowns, Jenna had decided she had had enough. Heading back to Stormwind, she met up with Master Exorcist Knash Marken, who managed to purge the death from her.

It didn't take long for that plan to backfire, when Zaer, taken over by a lack of reason, impaled Jen on a shadowy lance. She returned once again as a death knight, a tad miffed this time, and took down Zaer, leaving another love in the dust. Swearing enough to this heartache, she abandoned any and all further attempts at romance and headed back to Stormwind. A second death took another heavy toll on Jenna's emotions, and she slipped into a lethargy where she no longer came on adventures with her friends. Instead, she went to creating havoc and chaos, earning her named wanted among the Allinace, the Argent Crusade, the Ebon Blade, and numerous other smaller factions.

As of Recently...

Jenna barely treads into Goldshire anymore, instead traveling across Northrend as a loner. Her glory days are far behind her, her friends are more like acquaintances that barely enjoy to have her around. Her cold heart, warmed, then broken time and time again, has worn bitterness into now-17 year old Jenna Whitemane.

*A lot of these events, especially after 'A Taste of the Void and a Scarecrow's Mark' are probably out of chronological order since I've totally forgotten exactly which event came after/before another event.

Appearance

"Stop calling me pretty."

Jenna stands a good five feet five inches, and she was average height... when she was fourteen. Now seventeen and dead, it doesn't seem like she'll be growing anymore, but she's not looking any older either. Careful necromatic energies and some frost magic have kept the death knight free of rot.

Her skin is a sickly pale white, paler than even healthy pale, more like actual white than anything. In contrast is the icy blue glow of her eyes, the original chocolate brown color can't even be seen anymore. One thing that hasn't changed in undeath is the flaming ginger hue of her hair, which spills to shoulder-length with messy bangs that enjoy getting her face. For her youth, she has a very well built body, but a lot of the muscle isn't natural anymore.

The armor she wears is black and blood red, covering all of her except her head, because as she may say she's 'allergic to helmets'. Occasionally she'll wearing something lighter, but it's always just taking off a few pieces of armor. She doesn't wearing cloth anymore. Or really, anything pretty.
