Tables Edit

Why was the old table moved and replaced by the current one? The old one was much nicer. More functionality, and even better-looking.

Warcraft RPG Classes should be in a different category Edit

This category really should only have WoW class articles. Warcraft RPG classes should be moved to Category:RPG classes. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11:07 AM CT 11 Aug 2007

Near impossible, as there is so much crossover between the various classes. Alot of RPG, or RTS classes are seen as NPC classes or professions in WoW, and all playable WoW classes are also RPG classes. Most RTS classes are also RPG classes, or seen as NPC classes in WoW. The fact is you could pretty much put all of them in every single category due to the huge amount of crossover... So there really isn't a point to having multiple categories. It makes more sense to put the WoW specific classes in their own subcategories within the main class category.BagginshobbitBagginstalk § contr
That makes sense - a WoW "playable classes" cat as a subcategory of this, as an additional filter (with the articles in both categories). Kirkburn talk contr 22:20, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Ahh so your saying to seperate WoW playable classes to its own category so people have an easier time wading through WoW only classes rather than general "classes" category. That's a good idea, and follows our usual disambiguation practices. I'll start working on it as soon as I have time.BagginshobbitBagginstalk § contr
I've added Category:WoW classes to add a specific list which shows only playable WoW classes.BagginshobbitBagginstalk § contr
I'd really prefer that Category:Classes refer to WoW classes and other classes sub-categories specifically mention their origin, but I can live with WoW classes. However, maybe we should remove all the class articles from the general classes category and just have them live in their sub-categories. I think the idea of crossover is dubious, since I don't think the mechanics of WoW classes have any direct influence on those of RPG classes, etc. I don't think RTS NPC types were called classes per se, they just could be imagined as such. Crossover sounds much more speculative than substantive. Anyway, just my 2Copper. --Fandyllic (talk · contr) 5:08 PM PDT 5 Sep 2007
As to crossover, there isn't any reason why a page can't be listed in both Category:RPG classes and in Category:WoW classes. Silly gooses. --Sky (t · c · w) 00:13, 6 September 2007 (UTC)
It has nothing to do with crossover to class mechanics but cross over to class lore. Many RPG classes are based on WoW classes, and/or earlier warcraft rts game class/units. So yes there is crossover, a demon hunter is a demon hunter is a demon hunter no matter what game it appears in, lore wise. To be frank I've been very careful to leave out anything remotely related to RPG mechanics, we don't need to start ripping out the stats and rules from the books, and Blizzard and Whitewolf would probably get crotchety about it if we did.Baggins 06:36, 6 September 2007 (UTC)

Structure Edit

So is this a parent category for all class categories, just classes in WoW, or just classes in the RPG? Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 11:10, 29 March 2009 (UTC)

IntroEdit

The intro should be updated as "NPC classes within World of Warcraft" do not exist, the Warcraft strategy games did not have classes as they were called units, etc. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 05:19, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
