Challenging Shout
From WoWWiki
Overview
Warriors love to be the centre of attention, and as if their physical presence is not enough to drive the point home, a hearty ego-frenzied bellow can often put them back in the limelight where they belong...
"I'LL TAKE YOU ALL ON!"
Functionality
Challenging Shout is an AoE taunt shout that costs 5 rage and has a 10 minute cooldown. It causes all nearby enemies to attack the warrior for 6 seconds.
Available in All Stances.
| Rage Cost | Duration | Level | Cost | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rank 1 | 5 | 6 Seconds | 26 | 1 |
Notes
- This is especially useful in instances, but the 10 minute cooldown means that it should be used sparingly. It is best used if a given fight looks to be getting out of control, where multiple enemies are starting to split off and attack different group members, or unexpected adds join in and start attacking the squishies. Ideally, skillful use of the much faster cooldown single taunt and rapid target switching should be enough to keep everyone focused on the main tank in normal fights.
- As with Taunt, this ability has no effect on enemies already attacking the warrior, and does not actually create fresh threat itself. Enemies will switch back to their original targets after 6 seconds, unless fresh threat is generated by other means.
- It has no real use while soloing, and like Taunt, has no effect on enemy players in PvP.
- Like Taunt it will affect player pets, allowing for a limited usability in PvP, such as pulling pets off of a caster.
- Specifically a party-only ability, Challenging Shout is used in only one situation: A party member has generated a large amount of aggro and they need to be pulled before they die. It can also be used if a single mob has resisted Taunt and/or Mocking Blow and you need to pull that mob off your party member.
- That said, a ten minute cooldown means you really need to think out when to use this ability. If you are only going to save a one party member, the cooldown trigger may not be worth it.
- In Patch 2.3, the chance for this ability to land successfully on its targets is now increased by hit rating.
