Championing is a system for customized reputation gains in dungeons, announced at the 2008 Worldwide Invitational.[1] It will allow a player to acquire reputation in a dungeon with a faction other than that normally associated with the dungeon. Killing a monster that yields reputation inside a level 80 dungeon on normal or in any heroic mode dungeons while wearing a particular faction's tabard will grant reputation with that faction instead of the faction associated with the dungeon.

For instance, wearing Tabard of the Ebon Blade while in the Utgarde Pinnacle will yield reputation with Knights of the Ebon Blade. Wearing it in Violet Hold will not yield any reputation with Knights of the Ebon Blade as Violet Hold is not a level 80 dungeon, although in heroic mode you will get the reputation.

If you do not wear a champion tabard, your reputation will raise for either Horde Expedition or Alliance Vanguard, depending on your faction.
