Washed Ashore only requires a quick swim out to the skeletal sea turtle and back.

Recover the Sea Turtle Remains from the Skeletal Sea Turtle in the waters west of Auberdine, and then speak with Gwennyth Bly'Leggonde back in Auberdine.

Description
  +
It is stated throughout Icecrown and Storm Peaks that all Vrykul, presumably upon reaching adulthood, undergo challenges (either the Hyldsmeet or battling at Valhalas) that determine whether they will become Ymirjar or Vargul. Clearly Ymiron does not have the blue skin or frost accumulation of an Ymirjar warrior, and is undead. Does this mean he failed his challenge?
That beached creature is not an isolated incident here in Darkshore. There are more along the coastline and even in the water. I would like for you to investigate another one that we know of; this one was reported to be in the water due west of Auberdine, close to a sunken vessel. Return to me with anything that you may recover that would aid our research.

No, as whether or not these trials previously existed in a different form, neither vargul nor ymirjar existed before the coming of the Lich King. Ymiron is over 15 millenia old, thus predating this practice by eons. His undeath is a "gift" of sorts. -- 13:48, 3 January 2009 (UTC)
Also, in your travels you may find other creatures. By all means, if you should discover anything then please bring it to our attention!

Once you have investigated the creature's remains in the water to the west of here, I should be able to file a proper report with the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus. Perhaps then we will be closer to discovering the reason why these unfortunate creatures choose to end their lives beached on the coast of Darkshore.

Is the King Ymiron we fight in Utgarde Pinnacle really the same King Ymiron who ordered all deformed vrykul children killed? Because if so, that would make him more than 15,000 years old. Alpha Sigma Sigma (talk) 11:36, 21 June 2011 (UTC)
Completion
You've been a tremendous help here today; we now have a solid chance at unlocking the mystery of why these creatures choose to beach themselves on the coast of Darkshore. The idea that they might be fleeing the area around Teldrassil is disturbing. Should you come across others in your travels, please let me know. Our research here is but in its infancy.
