Unlike its barren neighbors to the north, south, and east, Feralas is a lush jungle. Both the Horde and Alliance lay claim to the area and have to contend with powerful local forces. These include the bloodthirsty Gordunni ogres who control a number of scattered ancient Elven ruins, including the vast dungeon of Dire Maul. The ogres have desecrated and defiled much of Feralas, damaging the land with their taint. The Horde in particular is concerned with the unchecked expansion of the Gordunni and has put out a call for adventurers to aid the war effort against them. Feralas is also home to a number of scattered Grimtotem tauren tribes, members of which are hunted by order of Belgrom Rockmaul in Orgrimmar. The far western islands are crawling with Naga and recently several Silithid hives have been spotted. Feralas is also the location of one of the four Great Trees leading to the Emerald Dream and guarded by the four Emerald Dragons. The three others are in Ashenvale, Duskwood, and the Hinterlands.

Confirmed Bonfire at Chillwind Camp, Western Plaguelands [A].
Once part of the great expansion of Night elf power, the forest of Feralas holds many ancient ruins as well as the great city now known as Dire Maul that have long since been overgrown by the native plant life. One possible explanation for its abundant flora and fauna could lie in the fact that Kalimdor was once nothing but lush forests prior to the Great Sundering. It is likely the high mountains that surround the area served as a protective barrier from such outside factors.

:Sorry, late with this post here, but I thought I would answer anyway. You do not get reputation for Honoring or desecrating the flames. What you do get is a lot of XP (on average, the 5 toons I ran through the achievement required fires leveled up 5 times) and a whole lot of PvP fun!!! Okay, some may not like PvP; I like it in moderation....but it is still a lot of fun to run around getting flagged, and getting pummelled by a level 80 Death Knight!! Mostly, it is good if you are a pet collecter (vanity, not Hunter) and if you are active in completing achievements. --Zanderlane (talk) 17:03, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
In Lands of Mystery (before the events of the Cataclysm), Feralas is one of the zones described by the adventurer and explorer Brann Bronzebeard.

"Revamp"
Upon arriving from Desolace, he witnessed a lush valley filled with enough ancient trees to "make any elf weep with joy". He quickly spotted the Twin Colossals and decided to climb to the summit of one of them, spending most of his first day in Feralas by circling the Twin Colossals while fending off wild creatures and mountain giants. In the evening he met a night elf who'd been observing Brann for some time for fun, but was gentle enough to teleport him to the top. From there, Brann saw a road descending into the valley from the south, cutting through the forest until it turned east and disappeared. To the west, amid the thick treetops, he saw stone ruins "jutted up like bony fingers". Further westward, he spotted the Forgotten Coast, both Sardor Isle and the Isle of Dread along the horizon, as well as the Feathermoon Ferry.

People and Culture
In Brann's opinion, most residents of Feralas were rather barbaric, living in simple dwellings or holes in the ground. They wear whatever they can create using simple tools and have little knowledge of higher technologies like stonecutting and metalwork. The tauren at Camp Mojache is the most civilized, though remaining true to their tribal roots and treating their surroundings with respect. The ogres are "the worst menace in the area", being scavengers and squatters. Some live in traditional mounds, other in the Highborne ruins. They hate anything that isn't an ogre, sometimes not even caring about that. There are also pockets of satyrs and harpies "whom will kill you first, eat you second, and ask questions later." Oddly enough, Brann describes the night elves as not being true natives of Feralas, despite their strong history there.

Ragnaros Alive?
Brann describes Feralas as a lush, L-shaped valley stretching from Desolace in the north to the ocean in the west and then stretching across half of Kalimdor until it reaches the Thousand Needles in the east. The region is nearly bisected by the ridge in the middle, which stretches from the Woodpaw Den in the south to Dire Maul in the north. The climate is subtropical with most days being warm and humid, with plentiful rainfall. All kinds of creatures inhabit Feralas, ranging from carnivores like wolves and hippogryphs to "smart animals" known as yeti and intelligent creatures like gnolls.

  +
So with the thing the Festival Scorchlings do when you give them incense, it seems to me that shows that, lore-wise, Ragnaros is still alive and active. What with the event at the Dragonmaw Base Camp confirming that Nefarion is dead in story, doesn't that mean that Molten Core is also canonically in the past? If so, Ragnaros is now alive in story.
The Legend of Feralas
Thoughts?
"The Legend of Feralas" is a legend Brann heard while he stayed at the Feathermoon Stronghold. It tells that in the days before the Sundering, Feralas was a part of a great valley that stretched across south-central Kalimdor to the Shimmering Flats. The Highborne, servitors of Queen Azshara, lived here in their city and capital Eldre'Thalas. Among them was a group of powerful arcanists called the Shen'dralar. When the Well of Eternity exploded in the Sundering, the elves were cut off from their magical source became lethargic, seeming doomed. Their prince, Tortheldrin, decided that they required a new source of magical. The ony way to get it was to steal it from the demons; the elves' enemies, and so they constructed a prison to trap a mighty demon in. It consisted of a network of pylons which harnessed magical forces, creating a force field. Their plan worked - they summoned and trapped the demon Immol'thar, and siphoned his energies for centuries. The demon couldn't escape, but its power had a limit. This was something he prince didn't foresee. When Immol'thar's power began to fade after thousand of years, Tortheldrin - now driven mad in his lust for power - solved the problem by slaying most of the arcanists, forcing the rest of them to continue channeling energy into Immol'thar's prison to keep him confined. Still, Tortheldrin wasn't satisfied. With no other arcanists draining energy from the demon, the prince was able to absorb the energy for himself. This increased his strength to almost unimaginable levels, but only so long as he remained in Eldre'Thalas. And so, Immol’thar remains trapped, the arcanists continue to be Tortheldrin’s slaves, and the once beautiful city became an ogre-infested ruin.

Getting there
; Alliance Icon SmallAlliance: The best way to access Feralas for Alliance players has always been by way of Desolace due to Camp Mojache being located on the path from Thousand Needles. With the flooding of Thousand Needles and destruction of Thalanaar, this is even truer today. In the past, the awkward geographical layout and presence of high-level mobs in the Twin Colossals led to some people taking extreme measures such as going west from Nijel's Point and swimming along Sar'theris Strand to Feathermoon Stronghold. The situation is much improved in Cataclysm and you can simply follow the road from Thargad's Camp (south of the Cenarion Wildlands) to Dreamer's Rest in northern Feralas. This does require passing through Gelkis-controlled territory but is far milder than anything in the old zone layout.

; Horde Icon SmallHorde: As with the Alliance, the post-Shattering leveling design is meant to take you from Desolace to Feralas and from there to Thousand Needles. Camp Ataya is the counterpart to Dreamer's Rest in the Twin Colossals and can similarly be reached by taking the road south from Shadowprey Village. While it is still possible to get to Camp Mojache by traveling west from Freewind Post, the flooding in Thousand Needles and new zone levels (40-45 in Thousand Needles compared to 35-40 in Feralas) make this illogical.

The way I've alway viewed the elemental lords in battle on Azeroth is that whenever they are defeated they are banished back to their own plane of existance. So techincally you couldn't truely defeat them unless you went to the elemental plane and destroyed their true forms.

With splitting up the Horde Bonfire and Alliance Bonfire into separate pages, it makes finding the fires difficult since those included directions. I prefer directions to a small map so I know where I'm going - and now I have to go to two different pages to find that information. I suggest having the directions put into the sortable chart or the horde and alliance bonfire pages combined. 17:54, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I STRONGLY preferred the system where we had listed both alliance and horde bonfires in one list. Players (or at least I) use them both at the same time. In Feathermoon Stronghold, Shandris Feathermoon attempts to cleanse the taint that is the naga led by Lord Shalzaru. And at Camp Mojache, Witch Doctor Uzer'i sends bold adventurers into the deepest parts of the jungle in search of mystical muisek (the spirit of animals). Kindal Moonweaver requires help to free Sprite Darters being help captive by Grimtotem tauren.

It would be nice to, for instance, take a level 10 toon in for research purposes. There would have to be an awful lot of guarding going on, as he'd draw guards from halfway across the zone. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:26, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

:::I ran my level 7 toon in, and completed the undercity flame quest. Based on this, I expect that *at least* the flame quests can be done at any level. Doing them on a level 1 would require a lot of shenanigans, such as a group to kill off guards, and a warlock to summon the level 1 in - so he doesn't level up simply from running from city to city. While this doesn't say anything about Thief's Reward, I would guess that it, too, is not level limited --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 16:35, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

"Fire Spirit Pet"

So the fire spirit pet is now a "token" pet instead of a instance reward? If so i'll need to get my fire blosom fast.--Flodarien (talk) 12:28, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Do these quests give any sort of rep? I've done both of the Eastern Kingdoms quests, but haven't received any rep so far. Andostre 07:21, 1 July 2007 (UTC)

Sorry, late with this post here, but I thought I would answer anyway.

Ragnaros Alive?

So with the thing the Festival Scorchlings do when you give them incense, it seems to me that shows that, lore-wise, Ragnaros is still alive and active. What with the event at the Dragonmaw Base Camp confirming that Nefarion is dead in story, doesn't that mean that Molten Core is also canonically in the past? If so, Ragnaros is now alive in story.

Thoughts?

Ilmyrn 16:34, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

The way I've alway viewed the elemental lords in battle on Azeroth is that whenever they are defeated they are banished back to their own plane of existance. So techincally you couldn't truely defeat them unless you went to the elemental plane and destroyed their true forms.

Just because Molten Core comes before BWL progression-wise doesn't mean that Nefarian being dead lore-wise automatically means Ragnaros is dead. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 12:30, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

suggest this section be removed from discussion (not the list on the main page, of course) but am loathe to do so :) ;>jamvaru (talk) 14:36, 30 June 2011 (UTC)

"Revamp" Suggestion

The old information should be removed and a note should be made stating the changes. Or at least put the old information under an "Outdated" section.

Bonfire lists

With splitting up the Horde Bonfire and Alliance Bonfire into separate pages, it makes finding the fires difficult since those included directions. I prefer directions to a small map so I know where I'm going - and now I have to go to two different pages to find that information. I suggest having the directions put into the sortable chart or the horde and alliance bonfire pages combined.  DiscordktDiscordKTTalkContrib 17:54, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

I STRONGLY preferred the system where we had listed both alliance and horde bonfires in one list. Players (or at least I) use them both at the same time. I was very disappointed to not see [Area] - [Bonfires (of both sides)] on the page. So much so that I bothered to figure out my old account just to complain about it. DeathFlame131 (talk) 23:51, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Eh, I guess being able to sort by area works too. Still, I liked having the continent breakdowns and stuff. Made it easier to find the areas you were in close proximity to. DeathFlame131 (talk) 23:51, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Agreed, this was a serious misfeature. What's wrong with keeping both lists up? In any case, using this revision of the page works: [1] Wisnij (talk) 02:23, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

The current default sort provides us with the exact same view of things that we liked, it just isn't quite as clear as it was when it was laid out in plaintext. DeathFlame131 (talk) 22:50, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Are the locations outdated for 2009? I'm at the location that's supposed to be tirisfal Glades' fire, and there's nothing here.--ClemSnide (talk) 22:37, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

The bonfire locations haven't changed between last year and this. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 01:07, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
My bad. I was on the quest chain that requires you to go to Orgrimmar and the Undercity, Quest:A Royal Coup et. al., and I was in a "phased" state at the time. A GM was kind enough to explain that to me.--ClemSnide (talk) 00:46, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

I've started working on some of the Co-ords for the 2011 holiday but I wont be updating them all, only the ones that are FAR from their original location. Is anyone else working on this project? Ameliaw90 (talk) 08:41, 21 June 2011 (UTC)

Getting to Bonfires

Note that at the Ogrimmar bonfire it is impossible to complete the desecration quest at Level 4 (and yes, I did test this on an alt!) before the guards arrive and kill you. --Tequima (talk) 11:42, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

20 per Day?

It says that you can get 20 through dailies but torch tossing and torch throwing only give 5 blossoms per day? 20 is wrong someone should change it or otherwise tell me where the other 10 blossoms daily come from -- D558 (talk) 03:15, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Quest:Striking Back. Guess it should be noted though... that last one for level 67s seems to cut off after level 70 or so, leaving level 80 players unable to do it. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:10, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Yea so do level 80 players get 10 less blossoms? cause the Ahune stuff only gives you blossoms for the first run... -- D558 (talk) 04:23, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Seems so. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 04:55, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Enable low level quest tracking and try again. Does this work? I can't try myself. -- Xeros84 (talk)

As I noted on the page itself, this has been addressed: the quest was extended from 67-70 to 67-80 with the hotfix. There may be individual realms which still have problems with it, but I myself have done the striking back quest with my level 80 toon. If you have problems with it (and yeah, do turn on 'low level quest tracking'), do report it so the support folks have one more note that it isn't working yet. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 17:00, 25 June 2009 (UTC)

A Thief's Reward

I am going to assume that some things have changed this year. I have been running the Midsummer on two of my toons so far, and both of them have recieved the Achievement "King of the Fire Festival". Both of them recieved the quest after turning in the flames from the four Alliance Cities; both of the toons are UNDER level 50. My Rogue turned in at level 45, and leveled to 46 by completing the quest; My Paladin is currently level 43 and turned his in not too long ago. I haven't seen any updates about this, so I thought I would mention it.--Zanderlane (talk) 07:27, 25 June 2009 (UTC)
