Copper Ore is the easiest ore to mine. It is mined from copper veins. Need to mine is a mining pick and proper training.

Copper veins may be found in many starting areas where the typical creature level is between about 5 and 18. Mining Copper stops giving skillups at 100. The most common zones to have 'Copper' are
- Elwynn Forest - High
- Dun Morogh - High
- Mulgore - Venture Co. Mine - High (this is the best place)
- Durotar - High
- The Barrens - High
- Darkshore - Medium-High (along the east side with the hills)
- Ashenvale - Medium
- Thousand Needles - Medium
- Westfall - Medium
- Hillsbrad Foothills - Low
- Tirisfal Glades - Medium-High (in the Hills NW of Brill)

Copper Ore as an ingredient
Copper Ore is smelted into Copper Bars at a forge, requiring a mining skill of 1 or more.
Copper Bars are used in the production of many items, including Bronze Bars.
Copper Ore can be prospected (consuming 5 ore) with a Jewelcrafting skill of 20 or more, resulting in:
- [Copper Powder] (100%)
- [Tigerseye] (53%)
- [Malachite] (47%)
- [Shadowgem] (10%)
On average, slightly more than one gem is recovered per 5 ore consumed.
