Cosmos

The above picture shows the configuration window for Cosmos.

The drop down allows you to specify which distribution of cosmos to update.

The checkbox 'Keep Interface Directory clean (deletes unused files)' will turn on or off the option to clean the interface directory every time the updater updates Cosmos. Any file that is not a part of the current selected distribution will be deleted unless it's been protected. The options below this in the group box allow you to customize the cleaning process.

Clean Blizzard AddOns: This option if checked will remove the Blizzard addons when the folders are cleaned. The Blizzard addons will then bre recreated by the game the next time it is run.

Delete Cleaned AddOns Right Away: This option if enabled which it is by default will move all the cleaned addons to the trash. By selecting this option you will not be able to use the restore cleaned addons.

Delete Cleaned AddOns Manually: This option allows you to click the button 'Delete Clean AddOns Now' to move the Cleaned AddOns to the trash. With this option enabled you will be able to restore any cleaned addons until you choose to delete the folder they are kept in.

Restore Cleaned Addons: This button when clicked will bring up the restore addons window. This button is enabled when there are files inside of the Cleaned AddOns folder.

Delete Clean AddOns Now: This button when clicked will move the Cleaned AddOns folder to the trash. By clicking this button you will be unable to restore any addons that were in the folder at the time. This button is only enabled if the Cleaned AddOns folder is in the interface folder.

Complete File Check: By clicking on this button the updater will perform a complete file check. This is different from a normal update check as the updater will compare the actual file with the file list from the server. A normal update only compares the stored file info from the last update with the downloaded file info. Both methods detect whether a file is missing.

Auto Update Cosmos on Opening: This option if enabled will update cosmos when the updater is lauched. You cancel this auto patch by holding down the 'P' key on launch or just click the cancel update button.

Use Unified Protected File: If this option is enabled then the when files are protected the information about that protection is stored in a single file. The file is NoPatch.nopatch which is located in the addon folder. If the option is not enabled then every file that is protected it will have an associated file in the same directory it is in with <protected file name>.nopatch. The disabled option is the old method of protecting files. The updater will convert between the two methods so you do not have to worry about reprotecting files when changing. This option is enabled by default.

Use PreUpdate Files: If this option is enabled then when a file is updated the old file will be moved to <old file name>.PreUpdate. The existing preupdate files are cleaned before the files are installed thus only files that were updated last will have preupdate files. This option is enabled by default.

Show Install Window: If this option is enabled then when the updater has downloaded the changed files it will bring up the installer window. If you do not wish to use the installer window then uncheck this option and the updater will install all the changed files that are not protected. This option is enabled by default.

Show Only Changed files in Install Window: This option when enabled will cause the installer window to filter out all the files that have not been changed. You can change this option from the installer window as well. This option is enabled by default.

Always Perform Complete File Check: If this option is enabled then the updater will perform a complete file check every time it updates.

Wow

Image:CosmosConfigWow.jpg
The above picture shows the configuration window for Wow.

The options for running wow which only work on the PC (since apps on the mac don't really get command line arguments) allow you to control how wow is run when launced. If the option to use the launcer is set then the other options are disabled because the launcher doesn't have these settings.

Use Launcher: This will run the Wow Launcher rather than the game itself. This is the only option that works on the mac.

Use OpenGL: If this option is set then Wow will be told to use OpenGL for rendering instead of DirectX.

Run in Windowed Mode: If this option is set then Wow will not run in full screen mode and you will be able to easily switch between the game and other apps.

Disable Sound: This option will cause wow to run withou any sound useful if you don't want those around you to know your playing wow.

Locate: When this button is clicked it will bring up the locate wow window. This allows you to change the location of where your Wow installation is located in case you move it around.

Auto run Wow after Update: This option is enabled will run the game or launcher depending on settings after an update is completed. You can cancel the autorun by hitting the 'k' key during an update.

Thottbot

The above picture shows the configuration window for Thottbot uploading.

The three option for data uploading are: Upload on Opening: This option will upload data when the updater is launched. If you have the autopatch option enabled as well then the upload will be done at the end of updating.

Upload with update: If this option is enabled then everytime you update Cosmos any data available will be uploaded as well.

Don't Upload Data: If this option is enabled then the updater will not automatically upload data. This option will cause the Upload Now button to appear so that if you are collecting data or just generated a profile you can upload it when you want. It is recommened that if you are actively collecting data then you should have one of the other two options enabled.

Username: is the username to upload data under. Password: is the password that goes with the username to upload data under. NOTE: You should not use the same username/pass as your wow account. The user and pass are not encrypted so anyone could learn what they are if they know were to look. For the thottbot website this is not important since user/pass is used to flag first submitted data for credit.

Advanced

Image:CosmosConfigAdvanced.jpg
The above window shows the advanced options for Cosmos.

Advanced features: by enabling this option you enabled the advanced features for use.

Hide Progress Text: Enabling this option removes the line that lists the files being checked. This does not remove the general status text box.

Update progress after nth file: This option when enabled will cause the interface to not poll as often for key presses and mouse clicks. Large numbers will speed up the update checking process but will cause the cancel button or cancel autorun to become less responsive. Generally you should keep the number below 50 WARNING: If the number is larger than the number of files in the Cosmos distribution then the cancel button will not activate before the process is finished.

Common Buttons

The buttons that are common to all four sections are:

Rollback Update: This button when clicked will close the config window and bring up
Image:CosmosRollBack.png
By selecting yes the updater will scan the folders for PreUpdate files and restore them to the active file moving the newer file out of the way. This option is only available if there are any PreUpdate files in the Interface folder on down.

Restore Defaults: Clicking on this button will restore the defaults back to the originals when the program first launched. This will also bring up the distibution selection window. After this is complete you will need to go to the Wow options and relocate the wow folder.
