This is a last resort for all chat problems. Do the following steps only if you've tried everything else.
1) Either rename the Interface folder or move it to a temp location. This removes cosmos.
2) If you had an existing cosmos and want to keep the configuration and/or have data from addons you wish to preserve (like lootlink, gatherer, mapnotes, etc) then make a backup your SavedVariables.lua file located in your WoW_Folder\WTF\Account\<account_name> folder
3) Delete your chat-cache.txt file located in your WoW_Folder\WTF\Account\<account_name>\<character_name> folder
4) Now run the game directly without comos.
5) Type /chatinfo
6) Leave each channel by number, i.e. /leave 5 then /leave 4 - /leave 3, etc... It's also possible to leave the channels by name: /leave General, /leave Trade, /leave LocalDefense, etc...
7) Join each channel by Name paying attention to capitalization (General and general are not the same). i.e. /join General - /join Trade, /join LocalDefense, /join LookingForGroup, /join WorldDefense
Cool Check the in-game channel menu (hover over chat window - right click on General Tab) and down near the bottom, there is a "Join New Channel" section. Go to that and look at the Channels listed under "Server" - make sure there is a check mark next to each of the channels you joined. If the checkmark is missing, check it now.
9) Test each channel to make sure you can speak on them and receive on them. (Even though you can't talk on WorldDefense, you can check it by trying to send to the channel - You should get a response stating that You don't have permission to speak on the that channel - if it is working correctly.
10) Once you are satisfied all is working. Log out and back in. Take note of the "Joining Channel ..." messages from the server. Make sure you are joining all the channels you are supposed to be joining. Again Test all channels and make sure you can talk and receive. Once you are satisfied all channels are working properly. Exit the game.
11) Rename the interface folder back to Interface or move it back into the WoW_Folder from its temp location.
12) Replace the SavedVariables.lua file with your backup (if you made one)
13) Start Wow with cosmos now re-enabled.
14) Again note the 'Joining Channel ... " messages from the server and make sure you are joining all the channels you are suppose to.
15) You may find that Sky re-arranges channels from 3 up differently than the order you joined them. For example, you may have had WorldDefense on 3, LocalDefense on 4, and LookingForGroup on 5. Sky will arrange them as 3 LocalDefense, 4 Looking for Group, and 5 WorldDefense. If this is not to your liking and you wish to force Sky to use your channel number preferences, do the following:
-- A) type /leave # for the channels you want to re-arrange, In our example above, you would type /leave 5 , /leave 4 , and /leave 3 -- B) type /join Channelname /# to force channelname to use channel number #. In our example, we wanted WordDefense on 3 so we type /join WorldDefense /3 and so on for each of the others: /join LocalDefense /4 and /join LookingForGroup /5
16) Finally, Sky places some alias's for common channels in the list such as gen and lowercase general for the General Channel and tra and lowercase trade for the Trade channel. If you want to not have these alias's in the /chatinfo list - they can be removed with the following commands: (Note: the second / is required) /remove /gen /remove /general /remove /tra /remove /trade
Once Sky has properly synced up - you should be problem free. One note: Sky is not playing well with the in-game channel menu. Do not check, or un-check channels in the "Join New Channel" section of the in-game menu with Sky running or you may get things out of sync again and have to repeat this procedure. Leaving channels by /leave # and joining them with /Join Channelname should be ok.
This should be a one time procedure. Once things are synced up - it is normally problem free.
