The Crimson Legion is an elite group within the Scarlet Crusade, led by Grand Crusader Dathrohan, whose members can be found in strongholds and areas around the Eastern and Western Plaguelands as well as in the human controlled side of Stratholme. Members of the Crimson Legion are recognized by their tabards, which are notably different compared to the ones worn by line members of the Scarlet Crusade. However, many upper echelon members of the Crusade wear the same tabard - indicating that the tabard is not unique to the Crimson Legion, but its members are allowed to wear it as a symbol of their status.

Adventurers exploring the Eastern Plaguelands should be wary of a Crimson Courier and her bodyguards, who often travel on the road leading to Tyr's Hand from Stratholme.

After the CataclysmEdit

With the fall of the Scarlet Crusade, their disguised demon leader, Balnazzar, releassed the possesed body of Grand Crusader Dathrohan and went on a rampage, killing every remaining crusader in Stratholme. He then used his necromantic power to raise them all as vile undead slaves.

Balnazzar refers to this army as the Risen. they are extremely powerful and, unlike Arthas' Scourge, Balnazzar won't hold his forces back.
