Critical Mass is a mage talent that increases the chance Fire spells will critically strike by 2% per rank, up to 6% at max rank 3. This is a significant DPS increase for mages that go this far in the fire tree, and most fire mages take this talent. For fire mages, critical strikes can restore mana with the Master of Elements talent, and will cause 210% of base damage with Ignite, making critical strikes an important source of damage and efficiency for that spec. At level 70, an increase of 6% crit is equivalent to 132.6 critical strike rating from gear. This talent only affects Fire spells.
