Inv misc orb 02

The Crystal of Zin-Malor is a Uncommon trinket.

Source

This trinket is technically a quest item one obtains while working on an Alliance quest string which begins in Winterspring. After gathering a number of items from across the world, this item is given to you, which you are ultimately supposed to turn in to Fandral Staghelm in Darnassus for your final reward.

However, many people decide to hold onto this item instead of finishing the quest string. This is because of the special properties this item has for those who keep it.

The Crystal of Zin-Malor is equipable. However, if you equip it, because you are considered "unworthy" by the stone, it will drain both your mana and your health over time until you either unequip it, or you die. When you die, though, your armor takes no damage. If one holds onto the stone, it can be used as an additional device for getting past certain locked doors without their respective keys, or can be used to commit "suicide" so that you can talk to ghost NPCs, such as Franclorn Forgewright in Blackrock Mountain for the Inv misc key 08 [Shadowforge Key] quest. It can also be used to kill oneself if you happen to get stuck and one's hearthstone is on cooldown, so that you can be sent to the nearest graveyard from wherever you are located. The trinket also does not suffer a cooldown, so it can be repeatedly used as soon as one has come back to life.

This is truly a unique item and some people feel it is worth more than any of the quest rewards you get for turning it in. Unfortunately it is currently limited to the Alliance only.
