Daily quests (popularly nicknamed dailies) are repeatable quests that can be acquired and completed once per day. These quests have significantly better rewards than other repeatable quests. Daily quests come in many different flavors, and many are for reputation, instances, professions, and battlegrounds.

Restrictions

You may complete up to 25 daily quests per day per character. The exact reset hour depends on the realm, but it never changes, is chosen to be in the early AM, and will not coincide with the instance reset. You can double-check by mousing over the daily quests completed out of 25 in the upper-right corner of your quest log. Prior to patch 2.4, there was a limit of 10 daily quests per day, but this was increased to the current limit to accommodate the large number of Shattered Sun Offensive daily quests.

Often, a quest chain needs to be completed first to unlock the quest.

Seasonal Events

During particular Seasonal Events throughout the year special occasion daily quests become available. These daily quests also count against the limit of 25 daily quests per day.

Brewfest

Note that only one of the Barking quests can be done each day, i.e. you cannot bark for both the Thunderbrews and the Barleybrews in the same day. In addition, the repeatable version of There and Back Again is not technically a quest (and thus does not count against the 25 per day limit), and has a twelve-hour reset time as opposed to the 4 AM reset time of the other dailies.

All daily Skyguard, Ogri'la, and Netherwing quests require level 70 and require a flying mount. Netherwing daily quests require the artisan (epic flying) riding skill, although not an epic mount. The Cooking and Fishing dailies require level 70 to obtain, but only a few require that you be able to get to places which require flying.

There are a maximum of 45 Burning Crusade daily quests available to a player at any one time (when all have been unlocked). This does not count seasonal events.

Instance quests

Patch 2.3.0 introduced two daily instance quests—one heroic and one normal—which randomly rotate to a different dungeon each day. It is possible to complete a normal mode daily while doing a heroic mode dungeon, for example completing Wanted: Malicious Instructors while doing Shadow Labyrinth in heroic mode.

Archmage Timear is a human located outside the Violet Hold in Dalaran.

Wind Trader Zhareem is a ethereal and quest giver located in the Lower City of Shattrath. Zhareem can be found in the eastern part of Lower City, near the inn. He stands next to Nether-Stalker Mah'duun.

Although Zhareem is a merchant by trait, his in-game NPC does not sell anything. His purpose is to give out daily quests for dungeons in heroic difficulty. Each day he offers one random quest of those below. An image of the final boss of the relevant dungeon is next to him.

Between the pre-expansion patch of Mists of Pandaria and the end of Warlords of Draenor the quests were deactivated, but quietly reactivated by the time of the Legion pre-expansion patch.

The Purge of Dalaran

Mists of Pandaria This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

During the Purge of Dalaran, Lan'dalock and two Silver Covenant enforcers guarded the entrance to the Violet Hold, where the captured or surrendered Sunreavers were being held. It is possible for Horde heroes to be banished to the hold's entrance by Jaina Proudmoore during Grand Magister Rommath's assault on the city, in which case players will fight and kill Lan'dalock to secure their escape. During the battle, Lan'dalock will summon illusions of the various bosses he once tasked players with defeating during the Wrath of the Lich King era.

Rise of the Thunder King

Mists of Pandaria This section concerns content related to Mists of Pandaria.

Archmage Lan'dalock makes an appearance on the Isle of Thunder, making his optional death during the Purge of Dalaran non-canon. He is tasked to dismantle the presence of the Zandalari trolls at Za'Tual.

Battleground quests

Quest givers can be found in any capital city near the Battleground Masters. The quest objective is to win a specific battleground. They give honor, gold and XP; the reward varies by level (11g 99s and 419 Honor Points at level 70). Only one daily is available per day and is randomly chosen from the list. The available daily quest varies between servers.

Daily cooking quests are handed out by Neutral The Rokk in Shattrath City and by Alliance Katherine Lee (Alliance) and Horde Awilo Lon'gomba (Horde) in Dalaran. The quest is random each day (although will be the same for everyone on the same server) and requires 275 Cooking and a level 70 character for Shattrath and 350 Cooking and a level 65 character for the Dalaran quests.

Dalaran cooking dailies

Each quest rewards +150 Kirin Tor reputation, 9g 93s, a [Dalaran Cooking Award] (Mustard Dogs! rewards 2) and a [Small Spice Bag]. The bag typically contains 1-2 [Northern Spices] which are used in higher level recipes and a chance at [Old Spices], [Baby Spice] or another Cooking Award. The awards are used to buy high level cooking recipes, usually for 3 Epicurean's Award. Three of these quests require [Chilled Meat] to some degree, and one requires [Rhino Meat], so always have a few on hand.

Shattrath cooking dailies

Completing all four quests grants the Cooking Achievement "Kickin' It Up A Notch"

The reward for each of these quests is a choice between [Barrel of Fish] or [Crate of Meat], and 7g 59s. Either reward contains random raw food (fish or meat), usually some grey or white item (possibly a [Skinning Knife] or [Goldenscale Vendorfish]), and might also include one of the following recipes:

A good tip is to always choose the [Crate of Meat] as your reward, until you have all recipes available from it, because it might contain items you need for your next daily cooking quest. When you have all of the recipes [Crate of Meat] has to offer, switch to [Barrel of Fish] in order to obtain the remaining recipes.

Note that although the minimum skill level to obtain the cooking quests is 275, all of the foods needed for the quests require a minimum cooking skill of 325 to make (except the foods for Super Hot Stew, which require 335). Thus, if you want to complete the quests without levelling up your cooking that far, you'll have to get the foods either from a friend/guildmate, through trade with someone else, or from the Auction House. Most cooking quests can be completed while in a raid group. The exception to this is N [70] Manalicious, as the mana berries cannot be looted while in a raid group.

Fishing quests

Daily fishing quests are handed out by Old Man Barlo outside Shattrath City and by Marcia Chase in Dalaran. The quests are random each day (although will be the same for everyone on the same server, and requires Level 1 Fishing and a level 70 character for the Outland quests, and a level 70 character for the Dalaran quests.

Outland fishing quests

Each quest involves travel across Outland to different locations.

The reward for these quests is a [Bag of Fishing Treasures] which contains some gold and grey items. In addition, you have a chance to get [Sharpened Fish Hook], [Elixir of Water Walking], [Spun Truesilver Fishing Line], [Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat], [Eye of the Sea] and [Recipe: Captain Rumsey's Lager]. The Bag of Fishing Treasures has an extremely low chance to contain [The 2 Ring]. There is also a chance to receive one of four rare pets when completing the N [70] Crocolisks in the City quest: [Chuck's Bucket], [Muckbreath's Bucket], [Snarly's Bucket], or [Toothy's Bucket]. Keep in mind that, as of Patch 3.1, these award no XP above level 70, unlike the Spirits of Auchindoun daily quest.

Dalaran fishing quests

The reward for these quests is a [Bag of Fishing Treasures (Dalaran)].

Jewelcrafting quests

Daily Jewelcrafting quests are offered in Dalaran by Timothy Jones. Rewards are tokens to buy higher level recipes.

Nagrand

Lakoor in Telaar gives this quest for Alliance players and Karrtog in Garadar gives this quest for Horde players. You must defeat 10 players of the opposing faction in the vicinity of Halaa in order to complete this quest, actually capturing Halaa is not required.

  • The reward for this quest is 209 honor and 11g 99s 0c at level 70.

Terokkar Forest

Exorcist Sullivan in Allerian Stronghold gives this quest for Alliance players and Horde players will get it from Exorcist Vaisha in Stonebreaker Hold. The objective is to capture a spirit tower in order to receive quest credit. Once one faction controls all towers they do not become capturable again until after six hours.

  • The reward for this quest is 209 honor and 11g 99s 0c at level 70. These quests (Horde and Alliance) continue to award XP above level 70.
