Very old commentary

Selfish, stupid, crazy, takes pleasure in the pain of innocents...all the qualities you want in a girl, right? 9_9 Plus she abused magic to a point where it almost destroyed the world and thereby ruined it for all the rest of us; now if I so much as cast a spell to wipe my ass I'll get accosted by a mob of self-righteous druids telling me I'm helping the Legion come back....and they won't even let me stand up before launching into their tirade! Grrr... --Illidan Rocks 15:11, 27 Nov 2005 (EST)

Don't worry, Illidan/Malfurion or Tyrande will hopefully bash her brains out in WarCraft IV!-Ragestorm

where's the description of her new form come from?

The description of her new form comes from the RPG book "Shadow & Light", page 75. Her picture is place on page 76. -- Sander, 3th Jan 2005

This is just a hunch but I think Neptulon is the force behind Azshara. I think she'll turn out to be very much like a Majordomo battle where the real boss needs to be summoned. One of the big storyline problems with summoning another Elemental Lieutenant is the amount of power needed to summon one (remember the effort the dwarves had to summon ragnaros not to mention the following explosion?). Azshara is defined in the series as being incredibly strong, even stronger than all the demons except Kil'jaeden, Archimonde, and Sargerus, She would probably have the power to summon Neptulon. We already know the Old Gods or one of their emisaries was responsible for transformation of the Naga. On a final note Neputlon might prove to be an appropriate lvl 70 or 80 raid boss because Ragnaros is defined as a "mere shadow" of his true self. Neptulon being summoned through the great maelstrom might be drastically more powerful or at least a "truer" form of himself. --Darkling235, 00:03, 27 April 2006

just one problem: if she's more powerful than most demons, including most of the higher warlocks and dreadlords, wouldn't that make her more powerful than Neptulon? if only Sargeras and his genreals are stronger than her, that would mean that Neptulon would be as powerful as Archimonde or Kil'Jaeden- not something that is very likely, as each of them has the power of one Old God, or thereabouts, according to current power estimates (which are, admittedly, largely guesswork). --Ragestorm 21:14, 26 April 2006 (EDT)

I dunno. The Old Gods are stronger INDIVIDUALLY than the Titans because they are defined as the "strongest beings in the universe" individually then it might make sense for their lieutenants to be stronger than a titan though to a lesser degree(which admittedly we haven't really experienced yet because Ragnaros was a "shadow" and C'thun was the equivalent of a new and unrefined version of himself having just recently been summoned). Remember one titan alone (Sargeras) was strong enough to singlehandedly defeat the Eredar race. There ws no refernce to any difficult with this in point of fact the story claims his powers were "more than enough", where there is a refernce to a terrible war between the Titans and the Old Gods. Admittedly Sargerus was not involved in this since he had already fallen but it seems odd there could be THAT much of a power gap between him and the rest of the pantheon.--Darkling235 08:38, 27 April 2006 (EDT)

For what it's worth, Brann Bronzebeard speculates that she may be one of the most powerful beings on Azeroth, rivaled only by, perhaps, the Lich King. But Brann isn't always right. --Austin P 22:56, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Like I said, a power scale has not been defined. Also, in "the Sundering" Krasus says that the Dragon Aspects as whole are a match for the Old Gods, which implies that the Titans are more than powerful enough to handle them. Getting back to Azshara though, I think she's be about as powerful as one of the Brothers Stormrage or Tyrande, even fueled by the Old Gods. --Ragestorm 08:53, 28 April 2006 (EDT)

Newer commentary about stats

The stats in Shadows & Light give a defined power scale. Neptulon is substantially more powerful than Azshara. Egrem 22:25, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
I got Shadows and Light today, and while several of Neptulon's stats are higher, Azshara's challenge rating is 52 while Neptulon's is 50.--Austin P 19:32, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
The challenge ratings are often inaccurate (particularly with regards to the elemental lords and dragon aspects). Neptulon is more than twice Azshara's level, has almost triple her hit points, double her armor class... her spells have only a 10% chance to affect him, and he saves against them 95% of the time (whereas she has only a 5% chance to save against his abilities)... there's no contest here. Egrem 21:25, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

Okay. I wasn't sure what all goes into a challenge rating, so I didn't know if it always means a person is more powerful than another. --Austin P 14:40, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

As far as WoW it looks like the requirements to take on the Lich King will be level 80, where as Queen Azshara will have to wait for another higher level expansion if she is to appear in the game.Baggins 09:09, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

I just hope they have Malfurion strike the final blow, with him roaring "Never again will you or yours threaten my people! There will be no escape for you--ever!"

2 points to whoever gets the reference. Austin P 01:51, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

If I had to guess, I would say that Azshara would still come out in WotLK, but just in a patch. Also, maybe they'll add in a new instance with Azshara as the boss with less "strength" to beat? Or is that not what Blizz does? Just thinking that maybe it would take raid of highly geared 80s to kill Lich King, but maybe if they added Azshara in the game before it comes out, or just in a patch, maybe she'll take a smaller raid or less geared people to take down. Jclipps 02:19, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Azshara doesn't fit in with the story of the Lich King, or even of Northrend. The WotLK expansion is entirely an epilogue to The Frozen Throne. I think it's far more likely that Azshara will be the new big-baddie for a future expansion centered on the maelstrom.--ChiperSoft (talk) 00:03, 22 November 2008 (UTC)

Eternal before Sundering

It might be important to point out that she may have rose to power of Eternal even before she was transformed into a naga;

Humbled by Azshara’s bold attempt to rise to their level of power, the Eternals...remain reserved and distrustful of both mortals who seek them out and mortals whom they employ.[1] --Baggins 17:58, 12 December 2007 (UTC)

Empress, not queen

I think that Empress Azshara is more suitable to be the article name since she is not queen of the kaldorei anymore, but Empress of Najatar and the naga. What do you think?Dakovski (talk) 16:44, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

Queen Azshara will still like to be called Queen Azshara.  Rolandius Wc3Knight (talk - contr) 16:48, 21 July 2008 (UTC)
The most appropriate name would simply be Azshara, as she is shown to have a pathological obsession with her own name. Sources more consistently refer to her as Azshara or Queen Azshara than Empress Azshara, which I believe only occurs in the RPG (correct me if I'm wrong on that one). --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 01:33, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
Who knows? Maybe she doesn't mind even more titles.  Rolandius Wc3Knight (talk - contr) 02:12, 22 July 2008 (UTC)
If her ego's the same now as it was ten thousand years ago, probably not. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 02:22, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

Description of Azshara

It looks like there are at least three descriptions of Azshara. One picture has her with 4 tentacles. One describes her with 5 tentacles. One statue has her with a snake body.  Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 06:49, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Point of note you can only see four tentacles in the picture, but that doesn't mean she has only four. One can be hidden behind her body from the angle seen. As for how she will appear in game, sure they'll likely model her as a naga sea witch/priestess of the tides since that's lot easier than modeling tentacles. Kinda like what they did with krakken. The number of arms might be an issue. Course if she really is an Ancient she might be able to change her form.Baggins (talk) 22:42, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Many fan art makers represent her with a common snake/naga body. Doesn't it exist an Official/Metzen version of her ?

Recently Active

Veehja, Priestess of the scales, states that "Five hundred years ago Azshara imprisoned a being named Leviroth" So, she seem to be active and not at all dead as some night elves believe.

Statue image

I have seen many images of this doodad gace this page, but are any of them actually said to be Azshara and not a normal Naga sea witch?--SWM2448 17:09, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

The Book of the Ancients quest states that it's only "a Serpent Statue" and the article of Ranazjar Isle states it's "a statue of Queen Azshara".
So at what point did we start believing this is the statue of Azshara ?
Loremaster A'noob, Arch Druid of the Noobhoof Clan (talk) 17:27, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
A quick search found this, but Ranazjar is way pre-BC.--SWM2448 17:32, 25 April 2009 (UTC)
It could easily have been brought there by the naga. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 02:59, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Well just look at the Queen Azshara infobox picture and compare and contrast. I think that is the only "official" image so far and it shows her similiar to the statues, except instead of a snake lower body she has like a kraken (giant squid) lower body. I think she looked like the other naga when she was first transformed and when those statues were made by the naga or whomever, but over the centuries has become like a naga anomaly and turned into the picture on her page. Rolandius Paladin (talk - contr) 03:23, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
It's also possible that her cephalopod anatomy has been retconned or otherwise debated in-house. -_Ragestorm (talk · contr) 13:59, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Statues are often stylized, look at the ancient egyptians. They were inbred and horribly disfigured, but the statues made of them were (what they considered) representations of perfect human beings, living gods. Thats the way i've always though of this situation: Azshara is like her picture from S&L and the statues aren't truely accurate representations, but rather the naga ideal of beauty. Wouldn't it be ironic if Azshara, epitome of vainness, has become something considered ugly. or like Rolandius said, she's continued to transform.Warthok Talk Contribs 20:39, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
Good point, although the sources are clear that she maintains her elven beauty, at least in her face.
And point of note, far fewer Egyptians were horribly disfigured than you seem to think, Akhenaton was probably an extreme case, and Marfan's isn't always a result of inbreeding. --Ragestorm (talk · contr) 03:29, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

Inclusion in World of Warcraft

An update on the Cataclysm official site listed Azshara as one of the characters appearing in the expansion, but then there's the inconsistency that Tom Chilton stated that she and Nazjatar weren't going to be included. Is there an explanation to resolve that? Kilvaer (talk) 05:07, 23 August 2009 (UTC)

He stated she will be built up but we just won't meet her or go there least not yet. Leviathon (talk) 05:24, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
