Commander Ulthok is the Second boss of the Throne of the Tides in World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. He jumps in and lands directly in front of players after defeating Lady Naz'jar and activating the defense system.
Curse of Fatigue 60 yd range — Curses a random target, reducing their movement speed by 50% and haste by 50%. Lasts 15 sec.
Dark Fissure — Smashes the ground in front of the caster, dealing 56550 to 63450 Shadow damage to all enemies within 7 yards of the impact location. In addtion, a dark fissure will open at the targeted location which deals 9425 to 10575 Shadow damage per second to all enemies within 0 yards. Lasts 60 sec. 2 sec cast.
Enrage — The caster goes into a rage, increasing all physical damage dealt by 50% for 10 sec. 2.5 sec cast. (10 cooldown)
Squeeze (Heroic mode) 60 yd range — Lashes out, grabbing a random player and squeezing them for 5000 (12500) Shadow damage per second for 6 sec. 0.9 sec cast.
Tactics
Avoid the Dark Fissures that appears in front of Commander Ulthok. Healers need to make sure everyone stays topped off, especially him or herself, so that they don't die to squeeze. If the tank feels confident about holding aggro, then kiting Commander Ulthok around the room will help greatly to avoid the Dark Fissure and his Enrage. Before the first Dark Fissure he will slow the tank, so stay mobile at the start. The Dark Fissures spread out on Heroic mode, much like Putricide's gas in ICC. What this means is that once dropped, the Fissure will slowly expand until it covers everything. This means you need to plan where to drop each one so as to leave yourself enough room to finish the fight before you are engulfed.
