Originally the Horde town of Rockard in the northwest corner of the Blasted Lands, it served as a sister town to Stonard during the First War, both the last defense before Blackrock Spire. The humans of Azeroth made a plan to destroy Blackrock Spire, attacking and destroying both Rockard and Stonard in the process.^[1] However they didn't manage to destroy Blackrock Spire and were defeated by the Horde.^[2] Dreadmaul Hold became the main encampment of the powerful Dreadmaul Ogres after they took over the town. Venturing into the Hold is extremely dangerous and adventurers are cautioned not to go in alone.

Prior to the Cataclysm, the Hold served as the headquarters of the powerful ogre Grol the Destroyer, servant of Razelikh the Defiler.

CataclysmEdit

In World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, the Horde will drive the Dreadmaul Ogres out of Dreadmaul Hold and retake Rockard, though the name of the Hold will remain.^[3]
