Eye for an Eye is a 15 point talent in the Paladin Retribution tree, you will need to spend 17 points in Retribution to max it. When maxed out it deals 10% of all critical damage done to the Paladin back on the attacker.
This talent is passive and occurs on every melee, ranged, and spell critical done to the Paladin. The damage done is holy spell damage increased by modifiers such as Vengeance, 
[Sanctified Retribution], and 
[Avenging Wrath]. It is capable of critically hitting for 1.5x damage. This talent will proc even while the Paladin is stunned, silenced, or otherwise incapacitated.

Resilience and Eye for an Eye
You have the same chance to proc Eye for an Eye off of non-crit direct damage spells as you have your chance to be crit reduced by your resilience to prevent stacking resilience from hurting the talent's performance. Having resilience will not reduce the frequency with which you proc Eye for an Eye, however it will reduce the average damage your Eye for an Eye procs do since the damage reflected is based on the final damage done to you.
Notes
- NPCs can not critically hit with spells, but Eye for an Eye still procs on some spells by NPCs.
- This talent is useless against DoT (like a warlock's Corruption (spell)), debuff, and AoE DoT (a mage's
[Blizzard]) type spells. - You take much more damage than the attack, however it effectively amounts to a free hit from whatever range the attack was from.
Examples
- A mage's Frostbolt crits you for 3,000 damage and you have no buffs up and no resilience. Eye for an Eye will either cause a 300 damage hit or a 450 damage crit.
- A mage's Frostbolt hits you for 1,500 damage and you have no buffs, but your resilience causes an Eye for an Eye proc. It will either hit for 150 damage or crit for 225.
Complex Example
- A mage's Pyroblast crits you for 6,000 damage, but you have enough resilience to reduce critical damage by 10% and so you only take 5,400. You would cause 10% of 5,400 (not the pre-resilience amount of 6,000!), and so it comes to 540. But hold on, you have other Retribution talents,
[Sanctity Aura] (+10%), [Improved Sanctity Aura] (+2%), Vengeance stacked 3 times (+15%), and you also activated [Avenging Wrath] (+30%). Your 540 damage is improved by +67.74% making it 906 and crits for 1.5x to cause 1,359 holy damage.
Patch changes
- Patch 3.1.3 (2009-06-02): This talent now deals 5/10% of the critical strike damage taken by the paladin back at the attacker.
