A large gyreworm

Gyreworms are earth elementals in the shape of a tunneling worm and are native to Deepholm. Though they have appeared in other places before[1]. There purpose appears to simply be eating away rock and minerals. Earth elementals serving under Therazane the Stonemother consider these worms as vermins [2]

Notes

  • Although obviously elementals, most are classified as beasts in-game, except Corborus. Whether this is an error or will allow them to be tamable by hunter as a worm is unknown.
    • This changed in patch 4.0.6 when most of them were reclassified as elementals, except where Gyreworm was changed to a dragonkin. (Obviously a mistake and expected to be changed into an elemental soon.)
