First Mate Moody is the sole surviving member of the Alliance Gunship in Deepholm after its crew was poisoned by the Twilight's Hammer clan. He suffers from a ghastly abdominal wound, yet still manages to keep the gunship from flying into the surrounding rocks. When players last see him, he has lashed himself to the wheel to keep flying, at least until he finally dies. He can be found in the admiral's cabin, the room on the main deck.

This NPC, along with his quests and rewards, is a reference to the rock band Murder City Devils, fronted by Spencer Moody.

• His indecision regarding the type of alcohol he wants is a reference to the song Rum to Whiskey (contains the line "he switched from rum to whiskey").
• "Without a captain, without a crew","this ship is filled with rats" and "tied to the wheel" are lyrics from the song Bear Away.^[1]
