Flametongue Weapon is a temporary weapon enhancement that does fire damage and increases spell damage for 30 minutes.

Functionality

In Wrath of the Lich King, Flametongue Weapon was changed to give a straight buff to spell power. In addition Enhancement shamans can spec into the spell Lava Lash which increases damage by 25% if the offhand weapon is imbued with Flametounge Weapon.

Patch changes

• Patch 3.1.0 (2009-04-14): Bonus damage from spell power now based on weapon speed. Slower weapons will benefit more from spell power.
  It should be noted that despite having been reported in the patch notes of 3.1.0 this change appears to never have taken effect.

Tips

• While Flametongue is useless against foes with high Fire resistance, it is not halted by those with high armour.
