The Flexible Raid is a tier of raiding introduced in Patch 5.4.0. Flexible raiding currently sits between (above) the Raid Finder and (below) Normal mode difficulty and has bosses scaled for anywhere between 10 to 25 players. For example, you could do a flexible raid with 14 friends.[1]

Warlords of Draenor Edit

Icon-information This section concerns content that is not yet implemented.
Warlords-Logo-Small This section concerns content exclusive to Warlords of Draenor.

Flexible raiding will be expanded with Warlords-Logo-Small Warlords of Draenor. It will encompass all of normal and heroic raids, making their separate 10- and 25-man versions obsolete. Instead, all raids from Raid Finder through Normal and Heroic will utilize flexible raiding, allowing groups to range from 10 to 25 players. Flexible Raid as a separate tier of raiding will no longer exist.

Note that the Mythic mode will be the only mode that does not use this feature.

Official blog post excerpt Edit

We plan to unlock the Flexible Raid difficulty in wings, similar to Raid Finder, but on an accelerated timetable. This new difficulty also has a separate Raid lockout from Raid Finder and Normal difficulty, allowing you to take part in all three if you so desire. You'll also be able to complete portions of your "Glory of the Orgrimmar Raider" raid meta- achievement in Flexible mode as well as in Normal or Heroic to earn cosmetic rewards such as an epic mount. This will allow Raid groups the opportunity to switch off nights between raids to complete achievements. Finally, taking part in Flexible, Normal, or Heroic difficulty will provide access to additional rewards that won't be available in Raid Finder.

Item level tier for raids Edit

In Patch 5.4, flexible raids will also drop a new "Flexible" tier of item level 540 items in the Siege of Orgrimmar raid only. All these items will also have 2 Upgrade levels to item level 544 and 548.
