I tried searching both the WowWiki and the official WoW forums, but I think the ! is messing with the search functions. What exactly does the ! do in a cast macro?

/Cast !"Spellname"

"!spellname" indicates that you have to put your spellname there. No need for a ! before the name.

/cast Shadowbolt(Rank 1)

Yes I know it works without the !

What I want to know, is what the ! does.

Ive seen some macros use it but I haven't been able to determine what it does specificly.
