Forums: Index WoWWiki policy Keeping Wowwiki separate and different from Wowpedia

I am a casual reader of both -Wiki and -Pedia, and I have understood there was some drama between the 2.

How I have been using the pages is this: - Wowwiki is often not updates to reflect item changes. AND THIS IS A GOOD THING! I consider it kind of like a museum. Example: Black Brood Pauldrons . They are not with those stats anymore, but for many people taht either want to reminisce, or a glimpse into the World of Clunkycraft, it is valuable.

I cannot get that kind of "old" information on -pedia, and I think that that niche can be filled by wowwiki. If anyone wants current item stats, they go to Wowhead anyway.

In short, don't update item changes and quest changes. Instead, embrace the "museum-ness". This is one of the main reasons I PREFER this site, over wowpedia. --Panzerlol (talk) 08:40, April 11, 2012 (UTC)

What you're seeing is not the result of intent and I don't endorse the "museum-ness" idea of WoWWiki. The item page you linked to just hasn't been updated. If you look at http://www.wowpedia.org/Black_Brood_Pauldrons, you'll notice they have it partially right which is they noted that the stats changed, but they forgot to update the tooltip.
I've updated the page to give an example of how to keep both old and new info on [Black Brood Pauldrons], if that's what you like. -- Gengar orange 22x22 Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 11 Apr 2012 11:49 AM Pacific
I guess this works too. But to be brutally honest, the fact that much on this wiki is old, is actually the reason I use it. So, if it's possible to ask you to make it official policy with old info aswell? Atleast if we dont, this will end up as another wowpedia in all senses, with also identical content, only fewer contributors.
