Forums: Village pump → Lowercasing WoW icons

So the topic has been broached that we should lowercase all of the WoW icons for sanity purposes. (e.g. File:INV ThanksGiving CranberrySauce.png --> [[File:inv thanksgiving cranberrysauce.png]]. It is doable (all hail the pywikipedia framework!) and it's been something I've been thinking/complaining internally about for some time now.

One technical snag is that bots do not have the movefile permission, so I'd either have to log it in as me (and spam the daylights out of RC) or get that permission added, which shouldn't be too difficult.

Any major objections? I intend to leave the auto-created redirects active so we won't immediately have to change every tooltip on the wiki. --k_d³ 00:32, November 24, 2009 (UTC)

The move has begun. Admins/crucially, please ban KaydeeBot (click the big red x on its user page) if it moves something it shouldn't or causes the load to go too high. I've hard-coded it to only move pages in the File: namespace that are in a category or a sub-category of Category:WoW Icons, so it shouldn't cause too much damage. POI icons

Did we want the POI icons to be lower cased as well? Or we could just leave the redirects for those.
