While I was working on updating the Gem stats chart on the Northrend Gems by Stats page. I noticed that there are no Tool Tip mouse overs for the newer Gems from Cataclysm.

I will be working slowly on the chart over the next few weeks to get it ready for usage. Including updating the page's name in the end. So that it will reflect the updated information within the page.

Would greatly appreciate any help on this project.

Thank You, RavenSaint

You might try asking the folks at Wowpedia if you don't get a response here. Do you plan to contribute here rather than there? I'm not asking that to sway you in either direction, but it seems literally every editor has left here. (Edit: That is, they leave once they find out Wowpedia exists, which the management at Wikia seem intent on keeping people from discovering.) --Alaine S (talk) 09:24, December 16, 2010 (UTC)
Please ignore Alaine S, he's been trying to get people to leave WoWWiki for Wowpedia and is only not banned because we don't see him as much of a threat. Or, maybe he's trying to get banned, but isn't obnoxious enough yet. I myself contribute to Wowpedia, but I have started to focus back on WoWWiki.
Back on topic. The way tooltips work is that they look at the item page where the link points to. Also, a tooltip won't appear unless the link was created by using a {{loot}}, {{item}} template or some other template that applies the tooltip CSS class to the link.
Please give some specific examples of gems without tooltips and I can be more precise about how to make sure they have tooltips. -- Gengar orange 22x22 Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 8:57 AM PST 16 Dec 2010
The other requirement, beyond what Fandyllic wrote, is that the gem needs to have the tooltip template on its content page that you are linking to. This will be done by default if you create the page using the item boilerplate. ddcorkum (talk) 23:08, December 17, 2010 (UTC)
Correct. The item linked to must use the {{tooltip}} template, so you would want see something like this on the page near the top:
<onlyinclude>{{{{{tpl|tooltip}}}
|mode={{{mode|}}}
|arg={{{arg|}}}
|name=Gem name
|quality=Gem quality
|icon=Gem icon
|...more tooltip param stuff...
}}</onlyinclude>

Cool. I'll work on it over the next few days. It'll take time to find all the new gems and their tooltip links.

Here's another tip...
For |icon=Gem icon, you can go to Wowhead gem info and click on the icon and a little window will popup with the name of the icon image file. Just copy that name and add .png for Gem icon.
Some icon images we may not have uploaded, so if you find some it would be helpful to list them here in this post and then someone like me or maybe Raylan13 @Wikia can upload them. -- Gengar orange 22x22 Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 9:03 AM PST 19 Dec 2010
