Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore New Novels Ideas

This topic is focused on the discussion of the new possible novels or comics Blizzard could publish. In order to keep an order, each novel/series' discussion will be placed under the "Comments" section of each one.

Scourge Trilogy

The definitive trilogy about the Scourge. From the beginning until the "end". Each of the books would focus on one of the main characters of the Scourge. At some points, we'll experience the same events in two different books, each one from the point of view of the main character. This are my 3 candidates:

Note: They aren't intended to be a trilogy at all. You shouldn't need to read the three of them to know the beginning and the end, since each one has its own.

Anub'arak: ?

This book could be considered the first one, although I would publish it as the third one, after the other two books. Timeline (some of them could happen at any point as flashbacks):

  • Youth of Anub'arak, development of his personality.
  • War of the Spider, how he became part of the Scourge.
  • First signs of conquest across Northrend.
  • Road to Damnation events.
  • The earthquake produced by the Eye of Sargeras.
  • Conflict with the Illidari, arrival of Arthas to the continent.
  • Sapphiron and the gates of Azjol-Nerub. (>NA<)
  • Baelgun's dwarves and the gate to the Old Kingdom. (>NA<)
  • Last part of the journey thorugh Azjol-Nerub, including the encounter with the Faceless ones. (>NA<)
  • Battle at Icecrown Glacier. (>NA<)
  • More signs of conquest across Northrend.
  • Building of Icecrown Citadel.

Points I'd add:

  • Conflict between nerubians and naga at Riplash ruins. First encounter between Lady Vashj and Anub'arak. The original plot of the naga trying to melt the glaciers could appear around. Could happen before or after the War of the Spider.
  • Detailed explanations of Azjol-Nerub as a zone with unique features.
  • Development of the Scourge with the nerubian architecture and the origins of creatures like gargoyles, frost wyrms and obsidian statues. We could see first-hand all about them. Also, an explanation about the obsidian statues' confusion with Ahn'Qiraj.
  • During the battle at Icecrown Glacier, a personal fight between Anub'arak and Lady Vashj.
  • Development of the new Scourge, with the vrykul, san'layn, frostbrood and other new WotLK creatures. We could have hints of their existence or first-hand explanations about everything.

Some notes:

  • The novelization of The Frozen Throne wasn't developed at Arthas novel. The entirety of it could be described properly, without missing any details, at Anub'arak novel. Those parts of the W3 story needing further explanation are marked with the tag (>NA<).

Ending:

  • It could end with the setting of the bases for the great plans of the Lich King at Northrend, plans not yet mentioned anywhere.

Kel'Thuzad: ?

This book could be considered the fsecond one, and I would publish it as the second one, after Arthas, which has been already published. Timeline (some of them could happen at any point as flashbacks):

  • Youth of Kel'Thuzad, development of his personality.
  • Mage studies and membership of the Six.
  • Interest for necromancy and the first whispers of the Lich King.
  • Road to Damnation events.
  • Return to Lordaeron and founding of Scholomance and the Cult of the Damned.
  • Spreading of the plague and death.
  • Ghost adviser role after being rescued by Arthas.
  • Resurrection at Quel'danas.
  • Struggle with Blackrock orcs at Alterac Mountains and chat with Archimonde. (>NA<)
  • Battle at Dalaran. (>NA<)
  • Arthas against the Lordaeron survivors and the three paladins. (>NA<)
  • Scourge civil war.
  • First Scourge invasion and Naxxramas.

Points I'd add:

  • Meeting with older liches and creation of new liches. Could include Legion-loyal liches with Balnazzar, with explanation for Morbent Fel, and even Amnennar's work at Kalimdor.
  • Creation of the first abominations and other constructs, as well as the plague.
  • First use of the plague over the human settlement at Northrend.
  • Retrieval of the Skull of Gul'dan from Dalaran, and confirmation of the book there being the unique existing one.
  • Hints of Inigo Montoy's loyalty and Kel'Thuzad's plan for when he's killed.
  • Mention of Searinox.
  • Creation of the first death knights, with the origin of the idea, and appearances of famous death knights who are bosses in-game, like Rivendare, Blaumeaux, Blackpool...
  • Mr. Bigglesworth, Helcular and the Barov family.
  • Mention of the Runestone at Caer Darrow.
  • Dagren's survival. He later joined Kul'Tiras, so he could survive or just seem to be dead.
  • Sylvanas' deserves a named bow, the one of the RPG could be nice.

Some notes:

  • A part of the novelization of Reign of Chaos wasn't developed at Arthas novel. The entirety of it could be described properly, without missing any details, at Kel'Thuzad novel. Those parts of the W3 story needing further explanation are marked with the tag (>NA<).

Ending:

  • It could end with the setting of the bases for the great plans of the Lich King at Lordaeron, plans not yet mentioned anywhere or just the truth behind Light's Hope's "defeat" and Ebon Hold, or Kel'Thuzad's intentions to take Light's Hope or just a plan of a fake defeat to later move Naxxramas to Northrend.

Arthas: Rise of the Lich King

This published book would fit with the other two new ones. It could be considered the 3rd part, and the first to have been published.

Illidari Trilogy

The definitive trilogy about the Illidari. From the beginning until the "end". Each of the books would focus on one of the main characters of the Illidari. At some points, we'll experience the same events in two different books, each one from the point of view of the main character. This are my 3 candidates:

Note: They aren't intended to be a trilogy at all. You shouldn't need to read the three of them to know the beginning and the end, since each one has its own.

Vashj: ?

This book could be considered the first one, although I would publish it as the third one, after the other two books. Timeline (some of them could happen at any point as flashbacks):

  • Youth as naga of Vashj, development of his personality, with flashbacks of some WotA events.
  • Activities at Nazjatar.
  • Alliance with Illidan and destruction of Nendis.
  • Broken Isles and the Tomb of Sargeras.
  • Defeat of Illidan at Dalaran. (Dunno if she was there, anyway)
  • Assistance to Kael.
  • Rescue of Kael from the prisons and flight to Outland.
  • Rescue of Illidan from Maiev.
  • Closing of the Bruning Legion portals.
  • Siege of the Black Citadel.
  • Battle at Icecrown Citadel, fight with Anub'arak.
  • Return to Outland and activity at Zangarmarsh

Points I'd add:

  • What she was doing around the Tomb of Sargeras while Illidan was behind the Eye.
  • Explanation of all her plans at Zangarmarsh, and why she's draining the water.
  • Enslavement of Broken and Lost ones.
  • Vashj could have a second loyalty to the Old Gods, and know of Anzu and the Arakkoa's plans, and even with the qiraji at Tempest Keep. She could even know of them even if she's no longer loyal to the Old Gods.
  • She could meet Tyrande at Silverpine in some moment.
  • She deserves a named bow, the one of the RPG could be nice.
  • Appearances/cameos of all the possible named naga at Outland, since the beginning.

Ending:

  • It could end with the reveal of her true plans at Outland.

Kael'thas: ?

This book could be considered the second one, and I would publish it as the second one, too, after Illidan. Timeline (some of them could happen at any point as flashbacks):

  • Kael's activity at Dalaran, with possible flashbacks of his youth and his sort appearance at Road to Damnation. Also, his relationship with Jaina. This all would develop his personality.
  • Kael's flight to Quel'Thalas once he discovers it has been attacked.
  • Gathering of his people, and Lor'Themar appointed as regent.
  • Burning of the forests. (Sunwell patch trailer)
  • Army towards Dalaran, alliance with Tyrande and Maiev.
  • Safeguard of the night elves during their attack upon Illidan at Dalaran.
  • Meeting with Garithos, reparations of the observatories.
  • Alone against Dalvengyr, assistance by Vashj.
  • Imprisonment and rescue by Vashj, death of Kassan adn flight to Outland.
  • Rescue of Illidan and allegiance to him.
  • Closing of the Bruning Legion portals.
  • Siege of the Black Citadel.
  • Battle at Icecrown Citadel, fight with Arthas.
  • Return to Outland and activity at Netherstorm, including siege of Tempest Keep and flight of Exodar and the persecution at Bloodmist, as well as M'uru and Rommath sent to Azeroth and Voren'thal's betrayal. Kirin'var and mana bombs should appear, too.

Points I'd add:

  • It could begin with Kael reading some memories of Dath'Remar or another thing referencing the War of the Ancients and the founding of Quel'thalas.
  • He could have a flashback of Teron Gorefiend from his attack to Dalaran. Later, he would recognize him at Outland.
  • Despise of the high elves towards blood elves should appear around.
  • Magroth's rescue at Dalaran should be mentioned.
  • Kael should remember Jailor Kassan.
  • The portal at Dalaran should be explained.
  • Felo'melorn's reforging should be narrated in the book. Kael could reforge it at Outland. Later, he could give it to Rommath in order to send it to Lor'Themar, explaining why it's missing.
  • His plans at Netherstorm should be explained.
  • Appearances/cameos of all the possible named blood elves at Outland, since the beginning. Don't forget those remaining at Azeroth, like Halduron and Sunreaver.
  • Kael could link what he read of the whisperings at Quel'Thalas during the founding of Quel'Thalas with Harbinger Skyriss.
  • Kael could have helped opening the Dark portal. Who had Medivh's book?

Ending:

  • It could end with him pledging alliance to Kil'jaeden and hints of what's going to happen at Quel'danas.

Illidan: ?

This book could be considered the third one, and I would publish it as the first one. Timeline (some of them could happen at any point as flashbacks):

  • Illidan at the jail, remembering War of the Ancients.
  • What happened with the twin blades and the vials while he was imprisoned.
  • Freedom thanks to Tyrande.
  • Capture of Gul'dan's Skulls and death of Tichondrius.
  • Exile and persecution by Maiev, alliance with satyrs.
  • Alliance with naga and destruction of Nendis.
  • Broken Isles and Tomb of Sargeras.
  • Use of the Eye at Dalaran.
  • Rescue of Tyrande with Furion.
  • Flight to Outland and capture by Maiev.
  • Rescue and alliance with the blood elves
  • Closing of the Bruning Legion portals, alliance with Akama.
  • Siege of the Black Citadel.
  • Battle at Icecrown Citadel, fight with Arthas.
  • Return to Outland and activity at Shadowmoon Valley and around. Training new demon hunters. Alliance with Kargath and imprisonment of Magtheridon.

Points I'd add:

  • Don't forget Skull of Gul'dan speaks.
  • Azzinoth and the fight between Mannoroth and cenarius, as well as other events not mentioned at WotA trilogy could be narrated using flashbacks.
  • Illidan could remember his youth at Suramar during his journey around the Broken Isles.
  • Note that Illidan was present at all the portal closings.
  • The vials of eternity shouldn't be forgotten. He gave one to Vashj and Kael.
  • The return of Teron Gorefiend and Zuluhed could be explained.
  • The Ata'mal crystal could appear around.

Ending:

  • It could end with his success at training new demon hunters and hints of Akama's future betrayal.

Wars of Warcraft series/anthology

Novels about some of the ancient wars of Warcraft, like the Troll Wars, Draenei Slaughter (different point of view from RotH) and the War of the Three Hammers. These ones could be novelized into one or more books, or made manga/comic.

If I'm correct, it was told somewhere that Vashj is draining the water for a new "Well of eternity/Sunwell".. Perhaps it was in the CoT thingie about retrieving the vials from Kael and Vashj. I'm not sure. Zulsai
