:I took a look at the test page for Fleshworks, and it looks like you are considering an approach that goes step by step. I think that might be more appropriate for permanently phased subzones, and simply describing how the temporary phase differs from normal would be more appropriate here. -- 16:03, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

::The Bash'ir Phasing Device invokes a mechanism similar to death, as does various Invisibility effects. I would consider the Phasing Device as qualifying (you can't interact with or observe non-phased characters, but you can with others affected by different instances/sources of the effect). I don't know if invisible characters can see each other. For the reasons you mention, Wige, I'd only give Death an honorable mention. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:44, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Forums: Village pump → Phasing, subregions and quests

For areas with Phasing, I would like to see:

 • Descriptions of each phase.
 • Activities (probably, mostly, quests) that move a character from one phase to another.

I have taken the liberty of altering the Fleshwerks page a bit to add a prototype for this. I do not currently have the ability to gain the needed descriptions first-hand, other than the final state. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 19:12, 18 May 2009 (UTC)
You may not be able to get all of them, blizz representatives did say they tried to make most of it unnoticeable. Good luck with your project though. SnakeSssssssssssssssssssssssss Coobra sig3For Pony! (Sssss/Slithered) 05:45, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
It would also be useful to have information on NPC pages about their changes from phase to phase. -- Harveydrone 22:21, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Coobra: I was, at least in part, attempting to inspire others to take on this project (as well), given the amount of time I have available. And yeah, most phasing changes do seem hard to pin down. A few are fairly blatent (like Shadow Vault and Fleshwerks). I agree, Harvey, the NPC pages are at least as critical. More, in most cases a description like "phase #x" is not quite accurate for NPCs. For instance, the Hodir region (Dun Niffilheim? Storm Peaks, anyway), many of the quest-giving objects don't appear until particular quests have been completed, but I think might otherwise be independent. Does that still count as phasing?

My working definition of a full phase change is "if you have done thing X and a friend of yours has not, you are not visible to each other in the area". And that's a lot of research.... Anyone got toons on Chromaggus? ;) --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:36, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Make sure your ideas are reflected on the phasing page. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 12:36 PM PST 22 May 2009
Particular ideas you consider noteworthy in that fashion? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 21:35, 22 May 2009 (UTC)
Nothing specific. I added being dead as a phase change. Exceptions or edge cases would be good to know. --Gengar orange 22x22Beware the sneaky smile! Fandyllic (talk · contr) 12:44 PM PST 26 May 2009
More for my own information than anything else, is being dead really the same thing as phasing? The reason I ask is that according to Blizzard the phasing technology was not added until (approximately) the 3.0.2 patch, plus when you are dead you can be seen by your party at least, whereas in a phase you can't. You are also able to see the same mobs that a not-dead player sees when near your body. Plus, you can be dead while in a phase. --Wige (T - C) 15:34, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

The Inv misc enggizmos 16 [Bash'ir Phasing Device] invokes a mechanism similar to death, as does various Invisibility effects. Argent Tournament and Court of Bones

I've recently been given direct evidence that the Argent Tournament quests Battle Before The Citadel and At The Enemy's Gates invoke phasing while you have the quests in your log. I'm not sure the full extent, though. Anyone care to run experiments? :)

I had seen evidence previously, of critters sort of "leaking in" around the edges on occasion. Never long enough to attack, just long enough to see and wonder about. So I guess the question arises, "what happens if you have both A.T. quests AND other quests that require Court of Bones mobs? --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 20:42, 1 June 2009 (UTC)

Phased areas category

Created a category to collect areas that involve phasing in one form or another. Could use help populating it.--Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 22:48, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
