Forums: Village pumpWarcraft lore Playable High elves

Hi! first time poster here. I was just wondering how many people would want High elves to be playable? I really would but most people think that blood elves are as close as we are going to get.

The way I see it we have 3 elf races.
The Fel elves ( Blood )
The Hippy elves ( Night )
The noble elves ( High )

I have seen countless threads on the world of war craft forums about people wanting high elves but they seem to be drowned out by the screaming people that simply don't want another elf race.

Also What is Blizzard doing with this race? I mean they aren't playable but they are getting more and more spotlight slowly overtime, If they wanted to kill them off why are there so many of them? Do you think they are just waiting for something?

Some random Questions too.

  • Do High elves have spellbreakers? I have never/seen heard of one.
  • Do High elves have blood mages or is that blood elves only?
  • Do you think High elves deserve a notable lore hero that isn't dead or missing?
  • Even if they don't become playable should they still have a city? I was reading the Blood elf page and it says the other half of silvermoon is still in ruins haunted by the ghosts of the High elves, maby they are saveing it for the high elves?

The high elves have a very distinct and persistent fanbase. I am not part of that group, but I think because of it Blizzard my be giving players things like the Silver Covenant as the next best thing. They also are part of the Alliance "identity". I do not think high elves have spell breakers or blood mages. High elves are likely not getting a capital that is literally next door to a Horde capital.--SWM2448 22:38, January 12, 2010 (UTC)
Never gonna happen. High elves look the EXACT SAME as we blood elves which would cause a great deal of fuss. Throw on a pair of goggles and you're the exact same. Even if they looked differently, there are very, very, very few high elves left in the world due to Prince Arthas killing off 90% of them and Kael'thas leading 90% of the survivors into becoming blood elves. Honestly, I love high elves too and all, but the idea of them becoming playable is hilarious to anybody who knows Quel'Thalas' lore. Why woulden't they have spellbrakers? Didden't the whole Blood elf movement happen dureing WC3? Spellbrakers were in WC3, also some random questions.

Why do the High elves use the phoenix symbol? I thought this was kael'thas rebirth of the blood elves I thought High elf symbol was a Quel'dori horse or something?

Would you roll a High elf you they were playable? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leon1989 (talk · contr).

The high elves never had spell breakers. Their military was composed of rangers, sorcerers, priests, and footmen. Curse of the Blood Elves occurred during The Frozen Throne. The high elves do not use the phoenix symbol. You're thinking of blood elves. And I would never roll a high elf. They are traitors to Quel'Thalas. You can clearly see the phoenix symbol on the High elf tent in the argent tournament —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Leon1989 (talk · contr).

O.o High Elves are the traitors? Cause they didn't follow an egotistical maniac so hurt by his failures with Jaina that he felt he had to prove he was as great as Arthas the "Lich King". Blood Elves should disband now that his taint has been removed and welcome the pure High Elves back into Quel'thalas. Actually, i propose a trade, Blood Elfs (into High Elfs) for Worgen. Those traiturous dogs should never have been allowed back into the Alliance, besides, all the screen shots? They look so much like Horde... Kael'thas is not the only reason why blood elves are blood elves. Now I grant you, Kael was a pivotal part of the blood elves' current state, but just because he is dead does not mean things will change. Thanks to Kael's meddling, blood elves - even with the restoration of the Sunwell - are, for all intents and purposes, magi-crack addicts. (And some are thistleheads, too, but that's besides the point.) And they're arrogant little snobs on top of it - and those are just the ones trying to be friendly with you.
And even with their fount of magic restored, it's not like they're just going to become model citizens, stop using fel magic (try telling that to a blood elf warlock, he'd probably incinerate you on the spot), kiss and make up with their high elven cousins, and go along their merry way. Hell, the high elves would just as soon shoot a blood elf dead as look at him. Ye gods, it's a miracle Dalaran isn't a shooting gallery.
As to the use of the phoenix by the Silver Covenant on their banners (i.e. the Argent Tournament, the FP in Crystalsong Forest, so on): Maybe the phoenix is not a purely blood elf symbol, but rather a Thalassian symbol - one venerated by high elves and blood elves alike. Symbol of rebirth and all that. --Joshmaul (talk) 06:37, January 19, 2010 (UTC)
