Frostbite is a Frost mage talent. It gives your chill effects a chance to root the target for a short time. Mage spells that chill include Spell frost frostbolt02 [Frostbolt] and Spell frost glacier [Cone of Cold].

  • Dragonflight Patch 10.0.0 (2022-10-25): Now a row 4 Frost talent (was a level 20 Frost PvP talent).
  • Battle for Azeroth Patch 8.0.1 (2018-07-17): Converted from a rank 25 honor talent to a PvP talent.
  • Legion Patch 7.0.3 (2016-07-19): Re-added as a rank 25 Frost honor talent. Now freezes for 4 seconds, down from 5 seconds.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Removed.
  • Wrath-Logo-Small Patch 3.0.2 (2008-10-14): Moved from Tier 2 to Tier 1.
  • Bc icon Patch 2.4.0 (2008-03-25): When a frost spell is reflected back at a Mage, it is now possible for the Mage to suffer from the Frostbite effect.
  • Bc icon Patch 2.1.0 (2007-05-22): The Frostbite effect was changed to be subject to diminishing returns in PvP.
  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.12.0 (2006-08-22): The effect of this talent will now still be placed on the victim if the caster is killed before their spell reaches the target.
  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.11.0 (2006-06-19): Relocated to tier 2 and reduced to 3 ranks (was tier 6 with 5 ranks).
  • WoW Icon update Patch 1.6.0 (2005-07-12): Fixed the duration of Frostbite on pets which are dismissed and then recalled.
  • Test-inline Patch 0.9 (2004-08-17):
    • Chance that Frostbite affects a target has been reduced.
    • Duration slightly increased
    • Freeze effects can now be dispelled.
