Angerforge holds Marshal Windsor's Lost Information, one of two quest items needed for Marshal Windsor in the Alliance Onyxia chain quest. Angerforge is also wanted dead by the Horde's Warlord Goretooth for attacks on the 109th division of the K.E.F. and mass killings of Horde forces.

Queen Azshara’s servitors, the Highborne, dwelled here, and the city of Eldre'Thalas was their capital. Within its walls, the elves lived in peace. Among them was a groupe of powerful arcanists known as the Shen'dralar.

: Then the Sundering occurred, and the Highborne found themselves cut off from the Well of Eternity. Without their powers, they became lethargic and seemed doomed to entropy. clrl

: To this end he contructed a network of pylons intended to harness magical forces, thereby forming a force field capable of permanently confining a mighty demon, which the elves could use to feed their thirst of magic. They summoned and trapped the demon Immol'thar, and for centuries the plan worked. Despite his attempts, Immol’thar could not escape his prison, and the elves siphoned his energies.
 +
: Yet Tortheldrin didn’t forsee that the demon’s power had limits. After thousands of years, the supply faded. The elven prince, by now driven mad with his lust for power, solved the problem by slaying most of the Shen’dralar arcanists, forcing those he spared to continue channeling energy into the pylons so Immol’thar would remain confined.
 +
: Even this wasn’t enough for Tortheldrin. With no other arcanists draining energy from the demon, he was able to absorb its power for himself. In doing so he has increased his own strength to almost unimaginable levels, but only so long as he remains where he is. Thus Immol’thar remains confined, the arcanists remain Tortheldrin’s slaves, and the once beautiful city of Eldre’Thalas has become an ogre-infested ruin."

;Alliance Icon SmallAlliance: The best way to access Feralas for Alliance players has always been by way of Desolace due to Camp Mojache being located on the path from Thousand Needles. With the flooding of Thousand Needles and destruction of Thalanaar, this is even truer today. In the past, the awkward geographical layout and presence of high-level mobs in the Twin Colossals led to some people taking extreme measures such as going west from Nijel's Point and swimming along Sar'theris Strand to Feathermoon Stronghold. The situation is much improved in Cataclysm and you can simply follow the road from Thargad's Camp (south of the Cenarion Wildlands) to Dreamer's Rest in northern Feralas. This does require passing through Gelkis-controlled territory but is far milder than anything in the old zone layout.
 +
;Horde Icon SmallHorde: As with the Alliance, the post-Shattering leveling design is meant to take you from Desolace to Feralas and from there to Thousand Needles. Camp Ataya is the counterpart to Dreamer's Rest in the Twin Colossals and can similarly be reached by taking the road south from Shadowprey Village. While it is still possible to get to Camp Mojache by traveling west from Freewind Post, the flooding in Thousand Needles and new zone levels (40-45 in Thousand Needles compared to 35-40 in Feralas) make this illogical.

Watch out also for isolated pockets of cruel satyrs and harpies, either of whom will kill you first, eat you second, and ask questions later."[4]

History

While I was in Feathermoon, I heard a legend about Feralas's history, and I can't help but wonder if it's true. It probably is, although I never got far enough to find out for sure. Most legends, after all, are based in truth."[5]

The Legend of Feralas

"Back in the days before the Sundering, the land we now call Feralas was part of a great valley that stretched across south-central Kalimdor, reaching as far east as the lake that is now the Shimmering Flats. Queen Azshara’s servitors, the Highborne, dwelled here, and the city of Eldre'Thalas was their capital. Within its walls, the elves lived in peace. Among them was a groupe of powerful arcanists known as the Shen'dralar.
Then the Sundering occurred, and the Highborne found themselves cut off from the Well of Eternity. Without their powers, they became lethargic and seemed doomed to entropy. The great elven prince Tortheldrin determined that they needed a new source of mystical power, and the only way to get this power was by stealing it from their enemies, the demons.
To this end he contructed a network of pylons intended to harness magical forces, thereby forming a force field capable of permanently confining a mighty demon, which the elves could use to feed their thirst of magic. They summoned and trapped the demon Immol'thar, and for centuries the plan worked. Despite his attempts, Immol’thar could not escape his prison, and the elves siphoned his energies.
Yet Tortheldrin didn’t forsee that the demon’s power had limits. After thousands of years, the supply faded. The elven prince, by now driven mad with his lust for power, solved the problem by slaying most of the Shen’dralar arcanists, forcing those he spared to continue channeling energy into the pylons so Immol’thar would remain confined.
Even this wasn’t enough for Tortheldrin. With no other arcanists draining energy from the demon, he was able to absorb its power for himself. In doing so he has increased his own strength to almost unimaginable levels, but only so long as he remains where he is. Thus Immol’thar remains confined, the arcanists remain Tortheldrin’s slaves, and the once beautiful city of Eldre’Thalas has become an ogre-infested ruin."[6]

Getting there

The Forgotten Coast

The Forgotten Coast

AllianceAlliance
The best way to access Feralas for Alliance players has always been by way of Desolace due to Camp Mojache being located on the path from Thousand Needles.
HordeHorde
As with the Alliance, the post-Shattering leveling design is meant to take you from Desolace to Feralas and from there to Thousand Needles.

Geography

Feralas is a large rainforest of huge, ancient trees stretching from Thousand Needles to the coastline in the west and from the wasteland of Desolace in the north to the lush Un'Goro Crater to the south.

Dire Maul, ancient ruins now populated by ogres, is an instanced dungeon which can be found in this area. There are no raid dungeons or battlegrounds here, but there are multiple micro dungeons.

This article contains lore taken from Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, the manuals, and/or official bonus maps.

In Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne, Feralas is a custom map designed for maximum 8 players. The tileset is called "Lordaeron Summer".

Map description

Separated only by a shallow stretch of water, two teams prepare to battle it out. The forest is dense enough that you may need to chop through the trees in order to better aid your allies.
