Giant clams are sea creatures found on the sea floor. They are different from regular clams in that they can only be opened and have their contents removed. The giant clams themselves can not be picked up.

Giant clams contain different items depending on the zones they are picked up in.

• Giant clams in Darkshore, The Barrens and Westfall drop Clam Meat and a chance of dropping a Small Lustrous Pearl.
• Giant clams in Blackfathom Deeps and Wetlands drop Tangy Clam Meat and a chance of dropping Iridescent Pearl.
• Giant clams in Ashenvale can be of either kind above depending on the area of Ashenvale you are in.
• Giant clams in Stranglethorn Vale will drop Giant Clam Meat and will always have a Blue Pearl, which is used to make Flash Bombs and in the Badlands quest Pearl Diving.
• Giant Softshell clams in Desolace drop Soft-shelled Clams and Soft-shelled Clam Meat.

Patch 1.2.0 (2004-12-18): Giant Clams in the Vile Reef now drop Blue Pearls.
