About Disdain

Ask not what being a member of Disdain can do for you, ask what you can do for Disdain . Players who think being a member of Disdain is an easy route to obtaining epic items or 'phat lewt' will be sadly mistaken and find themselves looking for a new guild in short order. A lot of hard work goes into being part of a guild and the rewards are far more than items.

Those who wish to join Disdain must be of upstanding character. One who is trustworthy, mindful, and respectful of other players, especially to Guildmates. You represent the Guild as a whole. Remember that your actions reflect on each and every one of us. Your reputation affects the way your Guildmates will be treated by others. Be sociable, polite, and courteous to others. Greed or selfishness will not be tolerated.

You are welcome to play or be how you want to be, we won't tell you how to play. We believe 'actions speak louder then words', both of which will be reflected by your position in the guild, or lack thereof.

Once your application is reviewed and accepted, your probationary period begins and lasts for 3 weeks. To properly evaluate candidates during this time, you must demonstrate the above qualities to other members, as well as make an attempt to adventure with Guildmates and make use of the forums. Secondary characters of Guilded members are, of course, exempt and may be tagged immediately.

Above all else, have fun! Never forget that this is a game and nothing in the game is worth losing friends over.

Code of Conduct

Communication: All guild members are to post availability notices in our forums when an extended absence occurs. There are several forms of communication that are available to all Disdain members. As such, there is no excuse for having communication problems. • Recruits inactive for 14 days, without prior notification of absence, will be automatically removed. • All members inactive for 30 days or longer without notice will be removed. (All former members in good standing are welcome to contact the Guild Leadership in order to request a re-invite when active again). • All Officers must remain active to retain officer status. If you are an officer and require to be inactive for an extended period, you must inform the Guild Leadership. • All private matters are to be taken care of via PM's through the forums or email.

Deguilding: All members are expected to respect the guild. Deguilding due to a dispute, disagreement, etc... is unacceptable. Log off, play an alt, talk to an Officer. Never resort to deguilding unless you are sure that you no longer want to be a part of Disdain. Any member that deguilds without prior notice to the Guild Leadership or found to have an alt guilded elsewhere will be removed and will not be invited back. Disdain tags the player, not the toon.

Guild Meetings: The Guild may occasionally call guild-wide meetings to discuss various issues that affect the guild as a whole. Attendance is mandatory unless properly excused.

Minimum Age: All potential applicants must be at least 18 years old upon applying. The only exceptions to this rule will be for members who have children that wish to join and give consent for their child to join, or if you are recommended by one of our officers.

Friend and Family Invites: Friends (real life) and family members are more than welcome into the guild; however, an application must be filled out before an invitation is given. They will also be on a probationary period, as is any new member, however it will be less strict. Raiding seats can not be promised to "Friends and Family" invites. If you wish to apply as a core raider, you must apply as any other player.

Behavior/Harassment: Abusive behavior will not be tolerated. Should a violation of this rule be commited, Officers retain the right to recommend dismissal from the Guild. This behavior includes but is not limited to: Continuous Abusive Language, Sexual harrassment, and Ninja Looting. Harassment of anyone or anything in any form, chat, /ooc, /shout, and especially when posting on message boards will absolutely never, under any circumstance, be tolerated in public, private, in-game or out of game and will result in immediate guild removal. • Harassment of another player, either according to the rules of Blizzard or the rules of the Disdain, will not be tolerated in any shape or form and will be grounds for the immediate and irrevocable discharge from the Guild. • Members are expected to report any harassment, in game or out-of-game, to the Leadership. We will then review all reported cases of harassment and decide what consequences are required, if any.

Begging: Aid will be given to fellow members whenever possible. However, begging, peddling, or incessive harrassment for a sort of unnecessary 'aid' is not going to be tolerated. This includes: Power leveling, begging of gold, items, groups, promotions, etc.

Raiding & DKP

Members are strongly encouraged to attend raids and events planned by the Guild. Raid attendance points may be applied based on importance.

If you decide to join an event or promise to be at a raid, please be considerate and give prior notice if you can't make it. If possible, cancel ahead of time so that the planners will have enough time to find a suitable replacement. We understand that real life comes first.

When there no events scheduled, all Guild members are welcomed and encouraged to propose an event or request quest help and adventuring. This will in no way be considered a planned or formal Guild event; however. This does not include the requesting of higher level members to run you through a lower level instance.

Raiding Schedule Raids nights will be as followed: • Thursday 8:00pm - 12:00am • Sunday 7:00pm - 12:00am

Raid invites begin 1/2 hour before the raid. Be online and ready to go. That cannot be stressed enough. Yes, things come up, everyone in the guild understands this. It is your job to let others know if you will be late otherwise there is a good chance that you can/will be replaced. There is no reason that a raid should start 1 hour past posted raid time, so please be considerate and take the little time it requires to be prepared.

Raiding Addons Certain Addons are required for raids. These addons include: • Deadly Boss Mods (All) • Omen Threat Meter (All) • Healbot Continued (Healers) • Grid + Clique (Healers Alternative) • Pally Power (Paladins)

  • The use of damage meters is not for competition but merely a method of evaluation. We do not care if you come in #1 or #10, we're more concerned with the report breakdown showing what you're doing and when you're doing it, so we can ensure you are actively participating in the raid and doing your job to the best of your ability.

DKP Overview DKP is awarded for all 25-man instances and is subject to change based on "farm status". Every member is required to know their own DKP status before the raid. Members are awarded 20dkp for each boss kill, 40dkp for the first guild kill. When a new tier of gear is released, a new Tier of DKP begins putting all members on the same footing and discouraging "dkp hoarding" .

Awarding DKP Loot Loot is awarded for a downed Boss via a silent bidding system. You are able to bid anywhere from 1 DKP to everything you have earned to date (including the DKP for that night). When each item is called out, you will whisper the Officer taking the bids with the amount you are willing to spend. After bidding has closed, those that have bid and their amounts will be announced, as well as the winner. The highest bidder will win the item for 1 DKP more than the second highest bid.

For example: [Sword of a Thousand Truths] dropped

Raider #1 bid: 10 DKP Raider #2 bid: 15 DKP Raider #3 bid: 3 DKP Raider #4 bid: all in - 50 DKP

Because Raider #4 had the highest bid, they will recieve the loot for 1 DKP more than the bid of 15 DKP, therefore Raider #4 spends 16 DKP on the item.

You are expected to bid on items that fit your primary raiding spec, all others will follow as: • Primary Spec • Hybrid Raiders • Secondary Spec/Alts • PvP

Gems A gem list will be prepared to keep track of who wants what gem. Each gem will cost 10 DKP.

Recruiting

Recruitment Overview Disdain is working towards building a foundation of skilled and friendly players to approach end game content as a cohesive group. We recruit players who share the guild’s core values, outlined above, and who sufficiently satisfy Disdain's raider expectations. Players should above all else have a positive attitude and enjoy the game. While we do plan to raid a fair amount, it will not be on a "hardcore" scale. We want everyone to enjoy their raiding experience as much as their playtime allows.

We ask that all Recruit Applicants: • Are at least 18 years of age • Have a comprehensive knowledge of your class and general game mechanics • Are prepared for raids with knowledge of the encounters and all consumables, and on time • Place raid progress over personal greed • Are cooperative and attentive, especially to raid leaders • Are enjoyable to raid with • Are geared enough to not be a burden for the content we are working on*

  • Because we are progressing, it is unfortunate, but these instances are becoming heavily gear dependant. Therefore, everyone needs to take the time and gear up what they can and not wait for raid instance gear. There are plenty of heroic badge rewards, pvp rewards, etc. As well as guild members more than willing to help others out with what they can.

Upon Applying to Disdain: • All applications will be viewable by the entire guild and evaluated quickly, but not on a fixed time-table. • Accepted applicants will be guild tagged and placed on a trial period as an “Initiate" and will be further evaluated during the trial period. • Initiates will earn DKP and may bid on items during their trial period. Bidding will be available after their first Boss Kill. • The trial period will last until the guild can make a decision regarding the Initiate, which is estimated at roughly two weeks. • At the end of the trial period, Initiates will be either promoted to “Member” or excused from the guild.

Initiate Mentor: Upon accepting an invitation into Disdain new Initiates will be in close contact with an established guild member. This member will act as an Intitiate Mentor. The purpose of the mentor is to help you maximize your enjoyment as a new member of Disdain. He/She will act to help fix concerns you may have, make sure you have an opportunity to meet as many guild members as possible and see how your gear progression is going. Disdain is a online family. We strive for new Initiates to become a part of that family as quickly as possible.

Officers

Current Officers:

    • Josstone (Raid Leader)
    • Phaye (Healing Officer)
    • Jinkad (Melee Officer)
    • Quenji (Ranged Officer)
    • Amelior (Tank Officer)
    • Hexxus (DKP Manager)
    • Leelu (Bank Manager)

Election of Officers: If there is a need for officers, appropriate candidates will be selected for review by the current leadership. This will be done at the request for volunteers, or personal invitations if member displays leadership qualities. Those accepted as an Officer will be promoted and recognized at the earliest plausible opportunity.

Members are qualified to become an Officer if: • They have been a member of the guild for at least four months. • They have, at least, attained a fair level relative to their peers.

Conduct of Officers: Officers are the Guild's resident police force. It is the duty of an Officer to hold the code in the highest honor and to behave in such a way that reflects that mindset. Officers are also expected to hold all other Guildmates accountable for their actions.

Guild Bank: The Guild Bank exists to help promote the financial well-being of the Guild and to help outfit its members reasonably. • The Guild Bank is the sole repository of guild funds and items. The Bank will be under the care of the Guild Leadership. • Items found within the Bank are for consumption, not sale.

Loot: When you first join or form a group, it is strongly recommended that you establish the ground rules for looting to avoid confusion. We expect members of our Guild to act in the interest of fairness and with common sense. Protect your honor and the honor of your Guild. No item is worth getting a bad reputation over.

Disdain is a family, and as such, we treat each other as family members. If you acquire an item that you cannot use, we strongly encourage that you first check to see if another Guildmate can. Remember, the Guild comes first.

Raiding loot will be awarded based on a DKP system (link to DKP section). Any dispute that may arise over items or loot must be resolved through the proper channels.

Disputes: Unresolved disputes within the Guild are to be brought directly to the respective Officers. The Guild Leaders will have the final say in all matters, should the Officers fail in the task of resolving a dispute.

Disputes between guildmates are private and confidential and all effort must be taken to keep it as such. Guild chat or open chat is not an accepted forum for the resolution of disputes. If a dispute arises, and there are no immediate superiors available, then forum PM's and email should be used to inform them of the situation.

Describing other members in a bad light or just plain badmouthing them in public is grounds for dismissal from the Guild. We are a family and as such we need to resolve internal affairs amongst ourselves.
