Guild history
Elysian was initially drafted through a two-way collaboration between Sarvoth and Darien in the Summer of 2003. The idea was to form a pre-release guild by 2004 for World of Warcraft. The charter was written by Sarvoth and Darien in 2003, but the site and recruitment didn't open till Summer 2004. The guild's first members joined instantly through no recruitment period and became the founding members of the guild.
The guild's founding goal was to form a guild that would be a raiding guild, yet hold values of a family guild seen common in casual non-raiding guilds at the time.
Pre-Release period
During the phases of pre-beta (alpha) and the later phases of beta, Elysian thrived and grew in size. Notably, the strength of the guild relied heavily on the fact it could sustain a core of people without a game to play in. The guild masters, Darien, Sarvoth, and Lazikith, used forum games, contests, and other video games like Warcraft 3 to keep themselves busy.
A few select members were placed in Beta, one notably being Sarvoth, who through being a writer for a gaming e-magazine at the time achieved Phase 1 access and beyond to write a preview of the game.
Notable Members who left/disappeared in this period:
- Xavier
- Ezhekial
- RavingWolfCub
Release
Upon release of World of Warcraft the guild chose Alleria, one of the first servers to appear in the morning of the first day. During the first day in-game, Elysian, was the first guild to form and sign a charter and raised enough money to be the first guild with a tabard the following day.
Through this period of leveling to 60, many new members joined and some who leveled faster than others left for end game content.
Notable Members who left/disappeared in this period:
- Vartu --> Left to Risen
- Kuil'Faroth --> Left to Risen
- Darien --> Founding Guild Leader left the server.
- Lazikith --> Moved to the Horde-side
The guild lost two of its original founding leaders in this time period. In their replacement, Sarvoth appointed Cele and Aleriya to replace Darien and Lazikith. Later, Cele would step down to member status and Risiell would be appointed his successor. Sarvoth, Aleriya, and Risiell still lead the guild till this day.
Later life
The guild has gone through many ups and downs. When the period of Risen's control over Molten Core with outside guilds ended, guilds all over the server banded together to continue the raids into Molten Core on their own. Elysian allied with such guilds as Penance, Guardians of Destiny, and Death From Above (Now on the US server, Thrall) to continue raiding Molten Core.
On November, 11th 2005, Elysian broke all ties with their last alliance with Death From Above. From this point on the guild achieved goals on their own starting with the defeat of Ragnaros for the first time a month later.
Elysian has so far beaten Zul'Gurub, Ahn'Qiraj (20 Man), Molten Core, and Blackwing Lair. Elysian, with medicore success has ended in the top 10 guilds on the server to finish most content.
Elysian strives on to finish Ahn'Qiraj (40 Man) and Naxxaramus with heavy anticipation for the upcoming expansion, The Burning Crusade.
Guild leadership style
Elysian runs an oligarchy style of internet government. This system comprises of a 3-seated High Council that are equal in power and decision making. Sarvoth is the only sole person who has rights as a benefactor of the entire guild, however, only using this in times of great need.
A lower council comprised of 8 Chancellors and 8 Sub-Chancellors help run the day to day life of the guild with their respective class pools.
Decisions are often made by a democratic style vote or through an opinion poll which helps the High Council make decisions for the guild.
Looting system
Elysian was founded on a primitive EQDKP system. Later, this was put on the back burner for a Weighted Roll system which benefited the guild through raiding with alliances. A revolution with the system was changed recently for a Zero Sum DKP system which started in August 2006.
Links to other guilds
Through the course of Alleria history, Elysian has touched and effected many guilds across the server. Ex-Elysian Vartu would become a leader of Risen for a short period. Elysian grew from mass recruitment from guilds like The Lollipops, Semper Mortis, Death From Above, and more. Likewise, ex-Elysian helped create and progress guilds such as Exium, Night Eternal, Risen, Surreal, and more.
