GnomeTech Lore
PewPew the gnome founded GnomeTech after the fall of Gnomeregan. After our founding, eccentric gnomes and other races started to enroll in astonishing numbers. Our mission is to learn and teach everything there is to know in Azeroth, with a special emphasis on engineering and magic. We intend to use our knowledge to make the world a better place. Wait...no, we intend to use it to blow things up, especially Horde.
All pupils are expected to actively conduct research for their thesis. For example, PewPew studied Night Elf culture, living with the elves for days and observing their ways. We are a community of learners, each using our unique gifts to teach others. Subject matter ranges from death rays to theology to anthropology.
GnomeTech is funded by production of Boochy Burgers. Boochy was a delicious Tauren who is sadly extinct now. In honor of his memory, we name our world-famous Boochy Burgers after him. All members will kill Tauren on sight to harvest their meat.
GnomeTech headquarters is an enormous facility located miles under Ironforge. It is accessed from the giant cog in Tinker Town, next to the High Tinker. GnomeTech students and faculty enter headquarters via the cog; upon sensing their implanted GnomeTech microchips, the cog will open and allow access to the teleporter inside. In times of crisis, the cog will seal itself with physical and magical barriers, cutting off all access to headquarters. Inside, headquarters looks much like Gnomeregan. It is filled with security terminals, robots, and numerous rooms. The entire facility is designed to resist damage from fire, explosives, acid, and magic. Fire-extinguishing robots patrol the halls, as do arcane nullifiers. In every room are energy nodes that provide access to an immense store of arcane and electrical energy.
The GnomeTech Gnomebots are a recent development. The first Gnomebot was built by Miss Pewpew from a laboratory firebot. It precisely resembled her and acted as her stand-in at Tact's Tavern (( the rp channel )). As part of the first GnomeTech plot, every student constructed his own Gnomebot, and Miss Pewpew's Gnomebot One was their leader. The Gnomebot Army invaded Thunder Bluff in a disastrous attempt to harvest the meat of the Tauren leader Cairne Bloodhoof. Now, the Gnomebots roam the halls of headquarters performing various chores. Gnomebots One and Two (Gnomebot Two is the first-ever magic using robot) work in the GnomeTech restaurant, Boochy Bar.
As GnomeTech built more powerful weapons, it looked for an opportunity to use them. Thus the Gnome Army was established. The GnomeTech Gnome Army is an elite fighting force dispatched to the aid the Alliance in their fight against the Horde. Its signature is the Simultaneous Deathray Gank, which to date has never failed to destroy its victim. The Gnome Army is also mobilized whenever the honor of GnomeTech or of the Gnomes is offended, and the perpetrators are swiftly brought to justice. The largest mobilization occurred when a particularly overzealous paladin attacked Professor Oakenstaff in Tact's Tavern, and the professor pressed the Red Button. The Gnome Army was summoned to the aid of the professor, and the tavern was never the same again.
Recently, GnomeTech launched the GnomeTech Space Laser II to replace the highly imprecise Space Laser I. The new laser operates using magically attuned crystal shards. Each shard is attuned to the master crystal in the satellite. When the magical suppression charm is lifted, the laser fires along the electromagical field between the two crystals. Thus, the crystals serve as precise beacons for the weapon of mass destruction. The laser was lauched in November, and Gnomebot Two went up with it. The magic-enabled robot serves as a link to mages on the ground. So far the laser has not been used offensively, though it has been successfully tested. Only Miss Pewpew can activate the laser.
