Overview
House Stalwart is a friends and family style guild located on the Argent Dawn Server. House Stalwart was formed on opening day and was originally comprised of a group of friends that had played various MMO's together from Everquest, Dark Age of Camelot, Horizons, City of Heroes, Everquest 2, and Guild Wars. With time we have added various friends and their friends and family into the guild. Our focus remains still upon the ties of friendship between members, and while we do raid casually we are in no way a raiding guild.

Recruitment
House Stalwart does not openly recruit. We limit our membership to friends and family of current Stalwart members in good standing. As a result the only way to get into our guild is by friendship. This has allowed us to slowly build a devoted group of players that at the end of the day are friends above all else.
We shoot down the notion House Stalwart is a raiding guild. I’ve seen a lot of guilds come and go, through a lot of different games. I’m proud of the fact that we have many people in this guild from varied backgrounds, and that have played various number of other titles with us. I think this guild works for only one reason. People are here because they want to be here, and not because they expect to gain something through membership. As we grow bigger this point becomes more and more important.
In a raiding guild people join it simply for the purpose of raiding. Relationships between players are often times very parasitic. Friendships in them become based upon the foundation of mutually using one another to fulfill your own goals. Success as a guild is a truly amazing thing, but it can also be extremely destructive. As the loot starts to flow, inevitably someone is going to win and someone is going to lose. Without a firm foundation based on friendship, resentment between guild members starts to develop whether or not you like it. It is at this point when the raiding game becomes a second job. You are punching the clock, looking for your chance to get your gear, all the while looking for the best possible angle to achieve your goals.
For some folks this is what they expect from the game, but for me gearing yourself up by pushing your friends out of the way is a hollow victory. So as we move into some of the “raid” zones, I want to make sure we are all friends first, and raiders second. This is why I don’t really and won’t really actively recruit people. I feel growing a guild artificially only leads to strife and drama. Instead of recruiting I like to let folks know that they have a home here if they ever want it, and leave the point of decision up to them. We hope this isn’t terribly naïve, but I feel this tends to bring folks into the guild that want to be here… because they want to be here.
